If this were Tommy Prothro back in 1975 when he one of the best drafts in Chargers history: I think it was Kelcher, Woody Lowe, maybe Bob Horn at LB, the DB - Williams maybe. It was stout.. I would have more faith

    I had to look
Big Hands, Kelcher, the DB Williams, Fred Dean, Mike Fuller, Billy Shields, Ricky Young (they traded for Big Ed White)

So, you make spot on point Roo ...
That was one of the best drafts ever, by any team. The funny thing is, Tommy went on to be the GM for the Browns and never had another good draft. Makes me wonder if it's the GM or the scouts that make for a good draft?

Do the Chargers go after Bobby Wagner? Middle linebacker? Also they said it’s a priority bringing Pimpkins back.

It comes down to money. Perhaps if Wagner gives a hometown discount so he doesn't have to move and the Chargers front office decides 2023 is a year to go all in and pushes some money into the future it could be done.

If they don't think they can win it all in 2023 I would say no to the signing due to his age. If they want to re-structure guys and push cap money into into the future for a make or break all in year then he makes sense because he can still play at a high level.

You gotta go all in. With the Chiefs they got Nick Bolton. Our Quarterback is right there. We have one of the Quarterbacks. We have a legit shot. Justin Herbert is a superstar. I say you go all in.

defense Bosa Healthy Mack Wagner James Jackson how is that not contending? Van Noy

LOL...we already are all in...we pushed the chips in last year. No more money. Gonna have to rely on good drafting, and Staley climbing the apex of that learning curve for Head coaches...and Moore helping this offense reach it's full potential.
            Adopted Bolt: Kimani Vidal RB

Final prediction: Latham OT, Colson LB, Sainristil CB,Rice WR, Zinter OG, Nourzad OC, MacLachlan TE, Vidal RB, Lovett DT

Best bet is to try to emphasize the offense through the draft this year and hope Moore can open up the offense enough to carry the team in 2023. The personnel on defense the past 2 seasons hasn't been bad enough to justify the poor results on the defensive side of the ball.

Wanted Wagner last year, he’s still that good.

Bobby has a 10M per year contract. We're over the cap, we can't start signing expensive players from other teams.

Not re-signing Uchenna Nwosu and trading for Khalil Mack.

Nwosu signed w/ the Hawks for 2 years $19 million; Mack cost a 2nd round pick + has cap hits of $27+ for this year and next. Nwosu is ascending and Mack, while solid and a great leader, is not.

                    What could have been….
I'm betting it was a Staley choice of wanting "his guy," as a culture fit as well as the play on the field. Mack is still a good player and a good leader but he is not 27 million a year good anymore. As for culture fit, I'm sure he was great yet the defense still couldn't even crack the top 20.

Going with Nwosu was a bigger gamble but with more upside at this point in their careers. He was playing well down the stretch in 2021 and it would have been less of a sure thing going with him in 2022. However for more than less than half the price and saving a 2nd rounder it definitely doesn't look good in hindsight.

Wagner will sign a NEW contract with his next team. And it's highly unlikely that it will be for the kind of dough he made in 2022.

Remember this, though-- Wagner is from L.A., and that was instrumental in his signing with the Rams. If the Chargers have *any* interest in Wagner, he'd likely sign for less than he could get elsewhere, because he'd prefer to stay home.

A fun way to rebuild the team is pick some arbitrary amount like 40 mil and draft 2023 team with current contracts
you would make different cuts and have different spots to fill

I keep coming here to see if they have made any decisions yet about released, restructures, trades, etc. but nothing.
