If they don't think they can win it all in 2023 I would say no to the signing due to his age. If they want to re-structure guys and push cap money into into the future for a make or break all in year then he makes sense because he can still play at a high level.

You gotta go all in. With the Chiefs they got Nick Bolton. Our Quarterback is right there. We have one of the Quarterbacks. We have a legit shot. Justin Herbert is a superstar. I say you go all in.
defense Bosa Healthy Mack Wagner James Jackson how is that not contending? Van Noy

Not re-signing Uchenna Nwosu and trading for Khalil Mack.
Nwosu signed w/ the Hawks for 2 years $19 million; Mack cost a 2nd round pick + has cap hits of $27+ for this year and next. Nwosu is ascending and Mack, while solid and a great leader, is not.
What could have been….
Going with Nwosu was a bigger gamble but with more upside at this point in their careers. He was playing well down the stretch in 2021 and it would have been less of a sure thing going with him in 2022. However for more than less than half the price and saving a 2nd rounder it definitely doesn't look good in hindsight.

Remember this, though-- Wagner is from L.A., and that was instrumental in his signing with the Rams. If the Chargers have *any* interest in Wagner, he'd likely sign for less than he could get elsewhere, because he'd prefer to stay home.
