Here's the truth about what I believe regarding the speed of a player; I really doubt the difference between a 4.5 guy and a 3.8 guy is as big a deal as most people do. I've seen guys that are supposedly slow get open deep on many occasions. It's simply not all about speed. Our own best at getting deep has been Williams and he's not the fastest guy on the team.
I do think when a guy's fast enough to run a sub 4.3 he has an advantage and he can change a game. But, guys like Pokey that run a 4.5 forty can be very successful receivers in the NFL. It's been happening for as long as I can remember.
true.... Rice was supposedly slow but he was so big strong and smooth that he rarely ever got caught from behind...... MW is not fast and he gets open deep...... BUT sblaziong peed cannot be coached and blazing speed scares players and coaches tom the point where they might double cover a track star who cant catch consistently.....or they will play way off leaving all the short passes wide open...... also keeps guys out of the box.......

Give this guy a promotion. He gets it

In 2008, AJ let Michael Turner go to Atlanta. I've always thought that was a mistake. LT was turning 29 (and would be gone in two more seasons). Turner was entering his prime and I thought he was the natural heir apparent to LT. Instead he want on to have a run of monster seasons for Atlanta.

Meanwhile in 2010 AJ traded up for Ryan Mathews, using two draft picks that coulda/shoulda been used to bolster the defense. I mean Steve Gregory had finished 2009 as the starter at SS and was the starter all of 2010. If he had kept Turner, AJ could've drafted TJ Ward with the 1st round pick in 2010 he traded to move up to draft Mathews. ILB was another sore spot on the defense - a revolving door of way past their prime veterans. The 2010 2nd round pick AJ also traded to move up for Mathews could've been used to draft Daryl Washington or Sean Lee.

But mostly I was sick watching Michael Turner starring in Atlanta, the transition from LT to Turner woulda/coulda/shoulda been seamless. Then when LT went ended up with the Jets and then Sproles went to NO and the Chargers' offensive backfield, which just a few years before had been formidable, was history. It made me sick.

Mathews had a few decent seasons and Mike Tolbert was OK as an RB2, but the RB was a long fall from what it had been just a few seasons before.

When AJ reached for Jonas Mouton in the 2nd round of the 2011 draft (with the pick from the Jets for Cromartie) and Mouton immediately showed he was a complete and total bust, I was ready for AJ to go and not let the door hit him in a** on the way out.

Hopefully in 2023 in addition to being capable of this he will actually do it.

"You put your left hip in
You put your left hip out
You put your right hip in

              You do the Wilson Pokey
              And you juke the cornerback

That's how you do - the Wilson Pokey

It will be interesting to see StaleyD's counter moves, if any.
He may remain committed to "putting an umbrella" over offenses.
Doesn't matter what Staley's counter moves will be. What matters at this point is the team as a whole and the culture that is in place in year three. The team now is Staley's team in every way. We hired the good to great OC, Staley has now had three years to make the adjustments with his staff and get through his HC growing pains. I expect the Chargers to come out this year with this QB coupled with the stars on the team, dominate the lesser teams and to pay neck and neck with KC and beat Denver and the raiders handily. This is the year we spread our wings and fly.... And play for a championship. Period explanation point.!
