Both sides are going to be awesome! I’m not the least bit worried about the switch, zion should’ve been at LG all along…the chargers will be able to run both ways with great effectiveness…I still think they need to address depth at all three reserve spots at least one via the draft by picking up a center with starter potential needs to be a high priority in this draft, lindsley is getting up there and drafting a center high can save the chargers a LOT of money going into the 2024 season…

      At LT, Slater > Salyer
      At LG, Zion > Fieler
At RG, Salyer > Zion ?

Can we talk about upgrade ?

You've got most of this right, but I think Salyer > Zion at RG remains to be seen. To give Zion credit where due - he had his hands full as a rookie + helping to cover for Pip on a bad wheel.

        Not having a reasonable competent backup at center is more than a bit scary. . . . . . . .

I don't feel Clapp played as badly as most here do. Was there dropoff from one of the best centers in the NFL? Yep. But not going to have a Linsley caliber player on the bench to replace Linsley when he gets hurt. Clapp was the best back up center this team has had for years and was better than the starter before Linsley (our man Feeney). Clapp is not under contract right now, right?

That said, I do agree that Chargers need to be smart and understand that Linsley is going to miss games and they should invest in a talented young center who can both back him up and be the long term answer when he retires/moves on. How is the center talent in this draft? Would be great for a rookie to learn from Linsley a few years and then take over. Rare opportunity.

            That's why I put a ? on that.
But it's easy to think that a player who perform at LT will be able to do the same at RG
Salyer will switch from the most important position on the line to the easiest

The general consensus (and my belief) is that Salyer is better suited to guard, so you're probably correct.

I know I'm not optimistic about the team in general (next year) but I absolutely love our starting Oline (depth not so much). I hope we get to see them play together most of the year. IMO we haven't had a line as good as this in decades.
I was thinking that Salyer’s a bit stronger and more physical at the point of attack than Zion and it might help Pipkins in right side rush plays. Just a theory on paper as of now, need to eve them play. But if it pans out, you read it here first

Not only did I think Clapp was bad, I thought Clapp was sooooooo bad that he impacted the play of Zion as the you Turk tried to learn the ways of the wily rascally NFL.

Clapp is not on the team now, correct, I’ve called for C/G backup to develop and replace Linsley as the top OL depth need while all the beefheads were muttering OT Rd1, Can’t Have Enough OTs! - I agree with you.

Pip is working hard at spring camp, he’s no Gaither. He will be even better in 2023, he was pretty good in 2022 in pass pro, needed to improve his rush blocking. OTs are paid to stop pass rushers, he focused on the top priority and now he will add to his game.

I looked up Pip's new deal on Spotrac, and the Bolts at LEAST left themselves an OUT after two years:

Clapp was bad. Every time he had to spell Corey the oline took a huge dump - like everyone else was trying to compensate for him . . . .
