we have an extra 6th because we swapped our 7th for the Patriot's 6th and then sent JC Jackson back to NE....so then we didn't have a 7th round pick of our own, BUT, we got a 7th back by trading Hopkins...

But if they could build the RB corps with veteran free agents and not draft a RB with a premium pick (rnds 1-4), they could use their first five picks on another needs, including maybe drafting two WR.
agree with possibly using the first 5 picks in other areas. similar to keeping Mack and Bosa, we need to find non-draft ways to fortify some position groups. RB might end up being one of those groups.

i don't think it was an accident that we ended up without MW and Keenan - they looked at the $43M in savings and looked at all the WR talent in the draft (and WR cuts after the draft). however, if we take 1-2 WR's in the draft, that means that some holes have to be filled without the draft.

if this team was more complete than it is now, YES, in that situation you roll the dice, but with this roster in shambles and having already rolled the dice on Fulton, I don't think it's a good idea...

But if a team is complete, where’s the need to roll dice? I’d let the medical staff and coaches decide, i don’t know a thing about his current status and I’m not big on superstition.

And here I thought I was deciding some shit on these here forums, LOL...gimme a fucking break, you know damn well that teams with more complete rosters are in better position to take the occasional gamble on guys like this and even then only in certain special situations...unfortunately that's not the dilemma that the Chargers currently find themselves in...Superstition? Fine by me, you go ahead and dismiss the injury history as a predictor of future issues as mere superstition

I would be okay with a one-year cheap "prove it" deal for Dobbins...but we should still hedge our bets and draft a RB at least in mid rounds...Dobbsie missed a LOT of games the past two years...kind of reminds me of Justin Jackson...

I still think if Dobbins looks like he checks out in his medicals, he is worth signing very cheap. He can always be cut if he doesn’t have any juice left or put on IR if he gets hurt again and the Chargers now have the money this year for a one year prove it deal. My prior post was just being realistic that he is a gamble. High reward, high bust type thing. If felt like some of us thought we were getting the Dobbins of his rookie year and that is not likely. Also Achilles is pretty tough to come back from as a RB.

Totally - I think the comfort level with WRs in this draft made them comfortable with moving on from both Keenan and MW. As for RB, Kareem Hunt and Matt Breida are still on the market. They have to build the RB corps with FA for this season if an RB doesn't fall to them in the draft. If they don't draft an RB with their top 5 picks, I do believe they will draft one in the 6th or 7th rounds.

I am with you on Dobbins - for that kind of price

This is actually the year to take chances on players like Dobbins. Who knows, if he stays healthy, look at who you might be getting

The thing about this offseason signings -- there is not one position in the draft, other than QB and probably Dicker the Kicker where you say - we signed Player X in free agency so that position is off the board. Maybe Gilman at S.

But many of the signings were short term deals: Bozeman, Fulton, Hurst, Poona Ford, the two linebackers. So even if they sign Dobbins to a prove it deal - RB could still be an option.

And maybe Hortiz is waiting post draft to really see what else the team needs before making other signings. As maybe Dobbins or a vet WR makes more sense post draft
