Someone just had to screw up with the works, damnit.

Let's all now pretend MG tore his Achilles tendon while on his way back from his proposal. A no contact season ending injury.

It hurts not having you here, MG. That's the breaks, I guess.

Chargers should call the Buccaneers and see if they have any interest in M.Gordon-RB for V.Hargreaves-CB trade.
      Do it TT!

Rivers will be passing more without MG, he likes doing that. He'd rather have a solid RB game in order to set up his passes.

Melvin Gordon, you prick! Now the offense has to adjust, if you're gone.

Accept $8 mil for 4 years extension contract. Not $13 mil a year for 4 years. Get real, will ya?

You weren't a powerhouse until recently. Now that you are...get real.

The Texans are one of the few teams with enough cap space to accomodate Gordie's $15 mil a year over several years...

The Bucs aren't due to go anywhere this year, are they?

            MG..."I'll take it."

            They still won't go anywhere.

Mr. Machine Vincent Jackson bolted the Chargers for the Bucs after a contract dispute. He did well there, stats wise, but the Bucs never went anywhere while he was there. VJ didn't mind.

MG seems to be regarding himself as a commodity. Highest bidder wins.

precedent is most important for me
              roll with RBBC Ekeler/Jackson/Newsome/Cox whatever
we'll get a good idea of what our rb situation looks like going into next years draft
if we can't contend for 10 weeks with that group, I don't know how much of a difference a MG is going to make.
meanwhile, fine MG every penny you can until he shows up week 10.
run him like a dog to give our RBBC a good rest before a playoff push
MG will be motivated to show his skills before hitting FA next season-- if he shows up as an elite back--F tag him and repeat. If he thinks it's smart to play it safe and not run hard then he's really not smart.
bottom line is that Telesco has done a good job of standing his ground, so let it be known that if you're a Charger, expect to fulfill your contract
Yes that always works. Trying to remember when it has worked?

Everyone knows that RB is the position that has the shortest "shelf life". MG wants a fat contract now because he knows that. The Chargers don't want to dole out a long term expensive deal to him for the same reason.
I think the Chargers can role on without MG if need be - RB by committee will work for them considering the three behind him. On the other hand, MG is the #1 for a reason - he's very good in all phases of the game so he would be missed. I hope they can come together but it could be a long haul.

It just about never works to try to bring back a disgruntled holdout. Even if he reports, there's issues:

"Unhappy with his contract after a monster 2004 season, then-Eagles receiver Terrell Owens held out in the summer of 2005. He eventually reported to camp without a new deal, and didn't appear happy to be there. That season was a tumultuous one. After ripping Donovan McNabb and the Philadelphia organization, he was suspended for the last four games of the year."

                  Trade Gordon.

TT KNEW it was going to come down to this. He always has a contingency plan.

                    Tom is high on someone.
Anthony has talked up Detrez. Hmmm.

                    Talent/running style assessment here.

I thought Justin Jackson was going to enter the draft after his junior year. I liked what I saw and consequently studied plenty of tape. JJ's running style, production suggests that he does not take a lot of big hits. There are some serious hops here...short area quickness...hands.

Get your Justin Jackson jerseys now. This guy's gonna be a star.

EK will be a great COP. Do not overuse EK !

Detrez...fix me a ham sandwich and carry my shoulder pads...

I keep telling you all, I think Detrez is going to surprise a lot of people. He had a very impressive preseason last year. He can run between the tackles, outside, great vision, balance, can cut back and has breakaway speed. Watch his college tape:

(And BTW, no knock on Jackson, either)

Trade him for a 3rd. Most we will get from a supplement pick. Put a 2nd round incentive condition in the trade based on performance.
