The Best and Worst NFL Decisions Made Since the 2019 NFL Draft Ended

    KRISTOPHER KNOXJUNE 2, 2019

    Best: Texans Add Jahleel Addae

    2 OF 7

    Carolyn Kaster/Associated Press
The Houston Texans added former Los Angeles Chargers safety Jahleel Addae in early May, and the six-year veteran should provide a nice boost to the Texans secondary. He started all 32 games for the Chargers over the last two seasons, is solid in coverage and is a tremendous tackler.

In 2018, Addae produced 75 tackles, three passes defended, a sack and an interception.

While Addae will likely back up Justin Reid and Tashaun Gipson in base formations, he's a guy Houston can utilize in three-safety sets or in the slot. As a quality tackler, Addae can also play as an extra defender in the box in short-yardage situations.

Along with fellow Texans newcomer Gipson, Addae is a player the Texans can get excited about.

"I think both of those guys bring two meaningful additions to this team," cornerback Johnathan Joseph said, per Anthony R Wood of Texans Wire. "They bring attitude, bring toughness, they both lead by example. They show up to work each and every day."

Addae was one of the best--and most versatile--defenders still on the open market after the draft, and the Texans were smart to scoop him up.

Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
    The Wasted Decade is done.
    Build Back Better.

Clearly that writer was high when he wrote that.

If Addae was such a great signing he wouldn't been out there so long. He was a decent FS who was more dangerous running into his own guys. He will be better if they use him in the box though but. . ............
      Solid cover guy? :facepalm1:

FFS... The Texans best move was to pick up a guy the writer sees as their 3rd safety?

And LMFBO at the "solid in coverage" and tremendous tackler" comments. This writer is clearly unaware of Addae's game.

3rd S will be on the feild more than the 4th LB will. Addae will be on the field a lot, essentially the 11th starter. He is basically another LB for them. And he is going to be a lot better off, down in the box, rather than being forced to play off the ball, trying to react to the ball in the air.

I agree with you. However, signing Addae does not make the Texans one of the league wide winners in FA, is all I'm saying.

Addai was a decent SS, not a great one but he did his job. And he played out of position last year at FS. He took one for the team because they didn't have anyone else.

I think he'll do better in Houston when he's back at SS.

HUGE question marks remain on HOU Oline.

Even Watson started to look not so hot.
There was a terrible playoff game.

I've heard that no team has a worse OL than the Chargers...and we made it to Div rd playoffs.
Addae joins one of the best, possibly The Best front 7 in the NFL.
                        Hou can compete.

Well.....they won a lot of tight games and came from behind a lot. That usually sees mean reversion.
