The offensive lines are crushing the hopes of both Los Angeles teams
The Chargers played Thursday night, and their poor offensive line was on full display. They lead the league with 147 pressures allowed through 10 weeks, and this week’s effort got to quarterback Philip Rivers like few others as he finished just 1-for-10 with three interceptions and five sacks on his 15 pressured dropbacks. As for the Rams, quarterback Jared Goff posted a passer rating of just 37.2 to go with four sacks on his 16 pressured dropbacks against the Steelers, and he’s now faced the seventh-highest percentage of pressure this season after ranking 26th in that department a year ago.

A lot of those passes are screens and quick hitters: its probably 50% +
:fight:
I already mentioned they need this cat on the Oline. Scott should study him, and study him, and study him with his hand usage.

The big problem with "draft several Olinemen" thinking,
is that Day one starter capable draftees are rare,
and we need talent much more than depth.
What I am trying to say is that our available useful options
only include trading up for a blue chipper,
overpaying like crazy for someone
or overpaying somewhat for a mediocre vet,
one who would at least be better than Tevi.
PFF mentioned Dennis Kelly from TEN.
Also mentioned was that TEN could easily let Conklin go ($$$ & risky)
and resign Kelly for value and cap health.
You see, we have to be specific and realistic.
Do not just throw away players who still may develop,
but in the mean time at least have had snaps as pros.
Can't fans see that there is scarcity,
the injury factor,
a narrow path to player development,
and league wide issues at Oline ?,
even for several teams who have invested heavily at Oline.
If we tear it down
and go for a complete rebuild,
that would have to involve the end of Rivers as a Charger.
So right now, my vote is for Leatherwood--
experience inside and outside--won't get Rivers killed in Pass Pro.
I like Wirfs a lot but be he will be gone.
Think. Research. Don't just vent.
Thank you.

A realistic option is Pipkens starting next year (allowing for more development & strength in the offseason).
I honestly liked him last Thursday (based on how far he has come since his implosion in preseason). I welcome all commentary!!!
:freakout:
Lamp is another realistic option as a solid starter. He's been unfortunate - not made of glass.
Okung probably will come back....a draftee probably won't be thrown into the fire immediately.
Splurge on a quality free agent interior player....
Double dip with offensive linemen in the draft early....improve depth. A tackle should be drafted in the 1rst or 2nd round.
At center, Pouncey/Quessenberry/Feeney...one will pull through.
No need to panic!

As much as i love Pouncey, with a neck injury and the position he plays getting hit in that area every down i doubt he returns.
Gonna get specific.
Gone. Trent Scott. Michael Schofield.
Grab. Rookie right side player. UFA. $$. Overpay for midlevel experience.
Ah fugetaboutit.
You fix the Oline.
:banghead:
Fire Meyer.
Into the fryer.
Back tomorrow
with another
brilliant idea...
