Yes, having played DB (not well, mind you) there are only so many ways a much smaller player can bring a much larger player, especially one with a full head of steam, to the ground. And this one is not like a horse collar that is pretty easy to point out. In these types of tackles, you can do everything right or try to and the mechanics/strength of the player you are trying to tackle will dictate that you either hold on for dear life and it becomes a hip drop on its own or you let go and the player just keeps going. Going to see a lot of DBs getting trucked after they first learn via all the PF calls to not tackle the way they have always been taught.

No, just means refs will have even more game deciding BS calls and the league adds another shackle to defenses.

I think its bullshit. What about all the torn ACLs and Acilles more acelerated from turf? Yet they wont consider that. Shouldnt be an automatic first down either. 15 yards is plenty.
Just another rule for more flag festing that helps teams on a 4th and 25 at the end of game get a first down.

I agree. How many ways can a defender not tackle the ball carrier now? It's getting to the point that bringing down the ball carrier is becoming undoable. Might as well make it a flag football league - the NFFL.

Not to mention that defenders can't go low on blockers any more . . . . . . . . must be fun for a 190 lb CB with a 300 lb pulling guard steaming towards him . . . . . . . LOT's of 'business decisions' to be made . . . . . . .

Weird story. The 49ers overpaid a player (unnamed) by $75k in 2021or 22. The player didn't return the money, so the league is punishing the 49ers in the draft. Their 2024 regular 4th round pick will get moved four slots to the end of the round (141 to 145) and they will forfeit their 2025 4th round pick.
