Receivers used to complain about Elway throwing too hard. He left little x marks on their bodies when they missed the catch and the end of the football hit them.

It’s a non-starter to me. Herbert should be out practicing daily learning to throw every route on the route tree with consistency, velocity and touch. Practice, practice, practice, Accuracy, accuracy, accuracy.

and for the receivers, learn to catch his ball.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
    Let’s win one for Mack.

Farve broke a ton of fingers. Receivers will learn to catch as Justin learns more touch.

Simmons/Thomas were my top targets, just because I think the chargers are built to win now. I’ve watched enough of Herbert however to be comfortable in thinking he’ll be the long term answer.

I LOVE Murray, I think he’ll be a pro bowl caliber player, and early. I’ve seen him compared to a smaller version of Urlacher. A sideline to sideline monster who can rush the quarterback. I don’t remember the last time the chargers had a guy that could consistently get to the QB from the middle of the field. Seau?

Im big fan of Kelley as well. I think he’s a three down back.

Haven’t watched Reed and Gilman much, so no real opinion on them.

Hill will start in the slot as a rookie imo. He’s coached up by Hartline, he’ll be ready. Can’t believe he slipped to the seventh. Teams just don’t learn.

i do not have an Athletic subscription. i know why he went #1 overall, i just think his sample size of excellent play is extremely small. do they focus only on the film from last year, which is undoubtedly very excellent.

I remember Elway as being brutal on the short, flat throws. WAAy too much smoke. It took him a few years to learn touch consistently.

As always, the more you look, the more you like. Even the UDFAs look better with time.

                Post draft power rankings

                23

                CHARGERS
                +1
                Previous rank: No. 24

Let's welcome Justin Herbert, who becomes just the latest QB prospect to blast away an offseason's worth of notebook ledes exclaiming "Team X views Tyrod Taylor as a potential long-term starter." That was never going to be the case in L.A., and the Dolphins removed a potentially agonizing decision when they selected Tua Tagovailoa the pick before the Bolts hit the clock at No. 6. Herbert is big -- 6-foot-6 big -- and has the tools to be a star, but we're told it may take time. That makes Taylor the perfect in-house option to hold the fort. We'll see how long the Chargers can resist temptation. GM Tom Telesco made more waves on Thursday night by trading back into the first round to land inside linebacker Kenneth Murray, who should be an immediate starter. Well, he had better be.

Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

College receivers can complain but the pro's should catch whatever is thrown to them.

Yes it does concentrate only on his 2019 season, which makes sense given that the most recent thing is what determines how much you've grown. It's the reason people concentrate so much on Love's 2019 season vs. his 2018 season.

It's just better to see the film breakdown. I would recommend trying to get the 90 day free subscription. Just make sure to cancel it right after you register so it doesn't automatically charge you after 90 days.
