Second, Jordan's stats were dominant. He led the league in scoring in every full season he played from 1986 to 1998. Brady's production absolutely did not carry the Patriots/Bucs in at least 5 of the 7 seasons in which he was on a Super Bowl winning team. None of Brady's Super Bowl winning teams ever won a Super Bowl in a season in which the Patriots did not have a first round bye. His Tampa Bay team did, but that team was loaded and only needed some time for its young defense to gel.
As I have already shown, Brady was an above average QB, but not great in at least 5 of the 7 seasons in question.
Brady has been a star because that is what popular culture does to many QBs on Super Bowl winning teams. But that is exactly my point. Brady, while fully deserving of the Hall of Fame, is significantly overrated because people peg his quality of play to the number of Super Bowl winning teams on which he played, which is simply an incorrect analysis. Really, there is no other way to state that.
