I'm increasingly looking at CB in R1 but it really depends on FA and how the top half of the draft plays out. Trade down for a QB hungry team also looks good but that's more luck than anything.

Ruckert was a stud at the SB and I'm guessing he lacked opportunities at Ohio St.
Don't think he will get past the TE needy Jets early in round 3 unless they go TE earlier like McBride or Wildemeyer in the 2nd?

I'm of the mind that CB will be a strong consideration regardless of what we do in FA
Steve spelled it out, we have 2 good corners
I wouldn't hate making a splash in FA and going McDuffie at 17.

A top tier CB makes Nwosu( and Rumph!) a better Edge rusher.
Davis and Samuel need a running mate.
If a good cover corner is there, happy to add him to the DB room.

We need at least one better CB, I’d say two. But I’d reverse the multiplier effect - a great Edge rusher will make 4, 5, or 6 DBs all look better on the same play and allow them to play tight and tough with less worry of over the top - if QB doesn;’t have time to get it over the top

Agreed that it definitely works that way as well.
Edge or CB in Round 1- can't go wrong.

                  Facyson was still bad.
I'm not a fan of PFF but they scored him a 51.7 for last season....which is lower than he scored with us the past 2 seasons.
                  Didn't think that was possible.

PFF grades DBs whether or not they are targeted. Pass rush doesn't impact their grade, supposedly.

As ive always said i think PFF sucks and yes their stats are misleading and down right stupid the way they do them, but Facyson wasnt any better than he was with us. And going by their grades using their same lame formula, he was worse with them than with us. I saw many of their games living here in Vegas and he had one good game that i saw. He probably had a lower grade because he had to play more than he did with us.

Here's a good article on the way the NFL's passing games (and defenses) have changed...
How The Short Passing Game Has Changed The NFL: Ron Jaworski played quarterback in the NFL for 15 years, from 1974 to 1989...

In 2010, screens accounted for 7.6 percent of the total quarterback dropbacks in the league, according to Pro Football Focus. This season, it’s up to 10.4.
But it’s not just screens. With the pass-rushers getting bigger and faster, offenses are relying more on short, quick high-percentage throws. Get the ball to a receiver in space and let him do his thing.
The bubble screen has been around for a long time, but its popularity has really taken off over the last few years as coaches have looked for the easiest ways to get the ball in the hands of their playmakers.
The popularity of the bubble screen also is forcing teams to rethink the type of cornerbacks they’re looking for. Not so long ago, teams were willing to overlook a corner’s ability and/or willingness to tackle if he was an exceptional cover guy. Now, not so much.
Offenses are changing. IMO, pass rushers aren't as valuable as corners who can read, react, and tackle. I think Staley has referenced his wish for players who can do these things.
