going from left tackle to right tackle when you played left tackle your whole career. Is like having to bat right handed when you batted left handed your whole career.

No wonder Salyer did so well at LT, his natural position, then not so good at RG...not his fault...

Best case scenario is having dominating bookend tackles but speaking for only myself, from our vantage point there are too many unknowns we are not privy to, to confidently advocate for Alt over other high floor weapons who are also PONs.

As far as the "lacl of mauling" I don't care.
I think it's physically more impressive to play under control without "mauling". I realize that's not exactly the same thing, but I've noticed that a lot of times when players are described as "maulers" that is sometimes confused with erratic and.over exertion.

If we draft Alt, I'll assume there is a solid plan and every risk has been vetted.

We also gotta keep in mind that Slater has a say in this. His agent might not appreciate the idea of him moving to RT. There’s a lot more to it than just guys moving from one position to another. There’s money. They are currently working on his extension. Everything has to be taken into consideration.
And there are numerous really good RTs in this draft that are plug and play ready day 1.

The ideal situation is LAC getting the trade down and getting 11 and 27 cause it opens up much more options to resolve both a weapon on offense and an OT.

I don’t like the Andrew Thomas comparison. I hope Joe Alt is not Andrew Thomas.

More and More I’d Like Romeo Oudunzie and I’d take Romeo Oudunzie over Malike Nabers. I think Marvin Harrison Jr. and Romeo Oudunzie are 1 and 1A .

Okay, Alt on tape looks solid most of the time. But...I do have a concern about Alt's ability to stay with speedy Edge rushers. For example, on this game, here's Alt's initial punch:

Edge disengages, then Alt steers him far enough to keep him away from the QB. On this play, no problem, but if the interior pressure would have pushed the QB further away from the pocket, that could be an issue. My concern is Alt's footwork vs. speedy edges.

Here it is again. Alt beat to the outside, steers, no problem because QB stays in the pocket. But ask yourself, will that pocket be so clean with the likes of Chris Jones pushing it?

Okay, so it was a run play and the run wasn't affected here. Still, you hate to invest a top pick in someone who gets outmuscled liked this. And this was a "highlight" film. Okay, I realize I'm not going to win a popularity contest here, but I have my doubts about how well Alt will hold up vs. someone like Maxx.

Yes there is a lot of opinion on the OTs.
I am still frantically looking at midrounders friend.
At the Combine, looking ordinary at ORT is not a concern IMV.
Fuaga and especially Fautanu looked a lot better.
Duke said Alt would ostensibly adapt and be fine at ORT.
Then all my doubts evaporated.
I am not sure people realize the amount of controlled power this man is capable of generating.
My guess is that appearances are deceiving.
You will be marked down for no go on Alt.

Mauler is overrated. Fluker was a Mauler. I once saw him Maul his own RB, I guess to help him but knock the ball out for a fumble. Slater the best OL on team doesn't maul anyone. He is just very good at blocking.
Alt is very good at blocking too. He can play either OT spot and play it well. The roster and coaches trend toward 22 personnel, I think WRs being able to block matters as much as catching it for their board rankings, so Nabers ranks 3rd for Hortiz and Harbaugh.

A team to watch that needs a WR that might make that jump is Jacksonville at 17. I’m asking for 17, their 2nd this year and their 1st and 2nd next year.

I'm fairly certain if MHJ is there and Viking trade up with the Cards to get a QB, the Cards will likely try and trade up with the Chargers to get MHJ. If the Cards are serious about going all in with Murray as their QB they need to give him some weapons.

Trade up with a 3rd to 8 or 9 and get your offensive weapon. ATL and CHI both are taking defensive players and there’s a good chance the player they want will be at 11 anyways..

I don't think it compares. There are only around 25 switch hitters in the whole MLB with less than 1 per team while OL play multiple missions all the time.
