I want that guy on my team
2 TDs.... 49 receptions.... predraft analysts made it clear that he would not be a high completion percentage target.... he's football's version of a "slugger."

not always dependable, but when you do connect w/him, 'tis usually for a decent payoff (extra bases).

we didn't pay Tyrell his $11m/year.... are you gonna fork out that much for MW ??

I don't think we wil need to pay him 16 mil, that's a number you are tossing out. Ekeler wasn't our starting RB either. Never had 600 rushing yards. MW isn't our #1 WR and scored 10 TDs in a playoff season.... Since garbage time is being brought up.

Gonna be alot more than $11 million for Mike Williams unless they come up with some kind of agreement before his fifth year option. He would absolutely have to tear it up next season or sign a new contract thats less than his fifth year option.
Chiefs won the Superbowl with 10 Rookies....

Why is MW gonna cost way more than 11 mil? 17 mil was being tossed out as a number for Keenan,..... MW is worth near as much as Keenan? Keenan has 4 well over 1000 yard seasons...with three straight. Perhaps the best route runner in the league and been to pro bowls. Ranked #38 in NFL top 100.

the problem is w/TyWill out of the equation he received more attention, and did not deliver as the advertised red zone target, let alone the #7 overall pick, who by all accounts should most certainly be(come) your #1 receiver, 'specially given Keenan's proclivity in the slot.... dude might be worth $11m on the open market, but that is not a wise allocation of LAC salary cap resources.... (given his production.... he can help get you downfield, but is not a move the chains kinda receiver).

ps. if Keenan went down and MW had to step in as our #1, and w/Mr. Patton & Co. as 2-4.... could get (very) ugly.

5th year option. Without a signed contract I think you have to pay the average of top 10 pick. I checked last year and it was around $15 million. I can only imagine next year will be around $16 million for Mike Williams.

"The fifth-year salary for the top 10 picks is the transition tender (average of the 10 highest salaries) at a player's position when the option is exercised."
                  ...
                  2016 first-round draft class.
                  Wide receiver $14,794,000 $10,162,000

The second average is for picks 11-32. You would be right to assume that Williams might be worth the second value but not the first. Now you know why receivers and running backs might be taken out of the top ten. If I'm wrong let me know because the fifth year option is weird.

I'm not up on the 5th year options. I thought you were talking about resigning him for 16 mil a year.

2020 is his fourth season (if there is one) so you either have to talk him into a contract extension or let him float in the market place. Most teams either sign or release. If Mike Williams thinks he's worth more than $12 million then I can see the chargers letting him go and not exercising 5th year option.

                        I like 1 and 3
I think WR is way too low - flip WR into the 2nd round

But anything that gets Simmons on the Bolts - I am good with

If he is not on the Bolts - I am good trading back -- say 9 to the Jags, than 14 to the Bucs or 16 to the Falcons - really get a lot more picks

And he'll go and get $12 million + elsewhere.
If healthy, he's worth it somewhere; if he's not worth it with the Chargers, you have to start questioning how the team is being constructed.
