So things that you did 20 years ago are unforgivable? You can't mature as a man? Everyone screws up growing up. At least most do. It's if you show a pattern of that behavior where it becomes relevant. I am all for accountability but when you're reaching that far into someone's past to get the dirt, it isn't relevant to what or who he is today. Obviously if it were something like rape or murder or even a repeat offender. Then that changes everything.

That’s just it. There is a pattern if you read about BIenemy. Trouble as a college player, trouble as an NFL player, trouble as a college coach. And it ranges from bar fights, to operating under influence, to missing court dates, to accusations of sexual assault, although none of it has ended up with him arrested or incarcerated. He has been trouble free in the 7 or so years on the Chiefs staff. But its not like all of this happened when he was 18. And who knows how many times he did something and just got away with it because of who he is? He was a big deal in Colorado.

But hey, Ray Lewis killed a guy and he still played. Hunt beats up women and he still plays. Same with Joe Mixon and Tyreek HIll and many others. Rothlesburger raped someone. Just not sure you want your HC to be a guy who has history of series of run ins with police. Hopefully he has grown up and maybe some of the stuff is people taking advantage. But its not an isolated incident from when he was real young.

I know this is a thread about coaches but Telesco has always traded up LOSING draft picks. Now he has 9 to begin with so I hope he doesn't get trade up happy. But I agree - if Sewell is gone, trade back and try to get more picks in rounds 2-4 - even if that means throwing in a 6th or making a deal of adding your 5th to get a teams 4th. Thats where the money is - rounds 2-5

Nick Saban has a good spiel about this floating out there in the internet, I just saw it again today but its from a few years ago about how you cannot always judge a guy at 19. But if Bieniemy continued these actions through his professional career - that would have to be looked it. If he truly has been "good and clean" the last 10 years plus - I think I would have no problem giving him an interview. If something were popping up more recently, probably not.

My friend, we hired two Boy Scouts in a row: McCoy & Lynn

The Chargers have lost 21 of their last 30 games. 0-9 against other AFC West opponents since the beginning of 2019. Bieniemy is a hard-ass, but the right-kind of hard-ass: disciplinarian kind

Both McCoy and Lynn failed as our HC. But they were certainly not no names.

But they were first time head coaches. And yes, maybe the Spanii do get in the way but do the Spanii really get in the way of two minute drills, clock management, when to challenge a play (Visor McCoy seemed to always panic challenge and lose time outs).

If Lynn is fired - my guess, the person hired will have been a head coach before.

The question was why has someone not hired Bieniemy away as a head coach. Forgiving someone (not that Bieniemy needs anyone's forgiveness) and handing over the reigns to your franchise are two different things. His behaviour might revert back to bygone days when he is no longer a subordinate - who knows.

A timid field mouse like Spanos will not attempt to find out.

I kind of agree. They generally bring in the antithesis to the previous head coach....but then, i don't really see a pattern.

Dean Spano's comfort zone is definitely with delta males. Maybe video interviews will not allow him to get a good whiff of the personality and make a mistake.

Covid could be the best thing that ever happened to this franchise.

Again you are speaking about things over 15 years ago. Nothing since 2004... 16 years? That's a long long time ago. You hire the guy and put him on a no tolerance contract. Guess what? You will see the majority of all athletes have skeletons in their closets. Sorry I was pretty wild in college as well. So I could care less about that far back. LOL kinda like Kavanaugh's drinking party 30 years ago. :chuckle:
