Staley is going to be a huge upgrade.

And look at the mess that TT has had work in: Spanos, relocation, playing in a little league soccer field...and almost no in-game fan support. Now w/Herbert, a shiny new palace, new young coach...the fans are coming around. Look at me, for instance. Chargers weren't on my radar two years ago.
None of that has helped but TT is culpable too. He hired Lynn afterall. He also hired Mike Mccoy. so 0-2 in coaching hires as well. If you know them, you know their weak tendencies. We have always struggled to stop the run in most seasons as they don't seem to care to get enough DL for a good rotation. Last year same story, we gave up 4.6 ypr among the league's worst. Year before was similar.

Same for run O w a 3.6 ypr avg. Many of their problems seem systemic to mgmt

      Well, not sure.

Spanos hired a consultant to help find a HC because Telesco was a new GM. So Ron Wolf was hired and they chose McCoy.

Word has been said that JohnBoy chose Lynn so not sure how accurate that is.

Does the Spanos ownership group let TT operate freely in the realm of football ops? Or is it even discernible to say from the outside?

Mad money for someone at his stage of career. Glad we weren't in the running should be able to get 3 decent players for that sort of money.

Mental contract we had no chance, I would sign him but not on 6 years deal.

                  LOL....f**k a bag of that...

Glad we are done with the trip down memory lane, and comparing Charger GMs on the FRICKIN FREE AGENT THREAD!!!

I ask again, TPB....who you got? Who is left that tickles your fancy? Are we done adding big pieces? Or is there another key need we plan on filling with a player out there?:dunno:
The TPB makes plans....And Jim Harbaugh laughs...

Final prediction: Latham OT, Colson LB, Sainristil CB,Rice WR, Zinter OG, Nourzad OC, MacLachlan TE, Vidal RB, Lovett DT

We've surely got to sign a CB, yes? Other than Davis, we don't have any so I'm guessing we bring in a corner to play opposite Davis.
Also see another interior OL brought in.
Now whether or not either are big noise/big dollars, not sure.

This is why we need to take a tackle in round one and possibly in round 2. Top end tackles don't hit FA. If they do they are old. If they are old they are still incredibly expensive.

Top 101 NFL free agents of 2021: The best players available

Here is a list (link above) of top free agents --- and its WR heavy thats for sure. Golladay, Fuller and Juju. I don't think the Chargers should be here but the talent is there if you could get great value

But aside from that - I am looking at taking
                        1) a one year flier on Adoree Jackson or Hassan Reddick, meaning a younger player with upside - who fits the scheme best for say $9m-10m per year. No long term dollars - evaluate in a year

                        2) I would try to sign like you said another interior OL (the tackles like Reiff and Villanueva probably will get paid too much money and the Chargers need to draft there long term OT) but Interior OL like Easton, Warford, maybe Kelley from the Titans as he played both OG/OT. The dollars drying up - whatever player takes like 2/10 range

                        3) TE: Cook Rudolph Ertz and draft somebody

                        4) Special Teams depth

After that - wait for the draft and re-assess needs and sign the veterans for the minimum post draft

Chargers have the money - they can go bargain shopping for depth

I agree. The price for REiff Villanueva, Massie will be more than the remaining OGs on the board

Draft your OT in R1 and another one like in R6 - never enough OT depth.
