    Its a pretty bad list
its how you end up with a minimum level vet FA like Covington
    and three UDFAs
Tillery has been a mixed bag at best

We also had SupaMel and Liuget on the team through at least 2018.
We’ve consistently had at least 2 - 1st round picks on our defensive front 4/5.
I had Broughton graded much higher than draft position and disappointed he didn’t pan out as a day 3 steal.
Tillery is the only reach/potential BUST that I think we’ve made on this draft front.

I vote for pursing both UFA and the draft in 2022 to upgrade our talent not to make desperation moves that rarely pan out.
      Agree.

except with the aspect of hoping to get a 'steal' on day 3.

I'd be happy with a selection providing good depth....meaning that after 3 years, they can beat out the likes of Covington, Fehoko, Graziano, Merrill (who stink). You have to consistently bring in defensive tackles through the draft to account for the probability that many will not work out.
      Baltimore and Pittsburgh do that.

If not, you have to rely on rookie free agents or dumpster dive....Telesco's favorite hobby.

      It has to change.

Covington is a bottom of the roster type guy.
He happened to be on a really thin roster in Cincy last year,
where they were forced to start him....sort of like here.

If i was John Spanos, i would tell Telesco:
        1. No Golden Domers
        2. No defensive tackles under 300 pounds (& don't tell me he'll than miss out on another Aaron Donald - just don't!)

Again, i'd rather they kept Square....not that that would have made much difference.

Right now Joe Gaziano is our highest rated DL per PFF. And yeah, pfffft, but it shows up in film too. The rest except Joseph look lost.

if the chargers continue with status quo through the bye week - that would be a head scratcher

TT Dumpster Dive or just plain bad signings:

              Willie Smith
              Max Starks
              Jacoby Jones
              Donald Brown
              Derek Cox
              Butterfingers Benji
              Launchwhiffy

              I'm sure there's more...ugh...

I mean, every year GMs dumpster dive. And partly is a by-product of how you draft. Telesco has traded many 3rd and 4th rounders and also missed on many 3rd and 4th rounders. So he needs to augment with street free agents - and that comes at a variety of cost and production.

Another function of this is the Chargers salary cap. The Chargers yearly spend close too or near the salary cap. But I do not see the Chargers every pushing the limits like say the Saints or Steelers have done. So they are not apt to go over the cap and ride it year to year. That could be a case this offseason if they choose to forgo the trade market and what not

I know the Raiders are joked about by signing another ex Charger in Fluker - but at least they are signing players with a history in the NFL for depth.

But he signed a former 2nd rounder in Joseph. Nwosu is a second rounder playing DE/OLB. Fackrell is a former 3rd rounder.

Okay, valid points there, Jolt...I'm just saying that TT should have drafted more players in the higher rounds, instead of the late rounds...
