Chargers lost 3 of their last 4 games. Staggered to the finish is right. Staley can talk all he wants about them being one of the best teams and deserving of the playoffs but losing 3 of the last 4 negates that. He failed

Yep...and some of Staley's bonehead decisions were a BIG part of that failure...

The Raiders risked a fumble and then an anticipated long field goal, which had a greater risk of being blocked....
they weren't expecting to pick up 10 yards on that play.
The previous two plays were runs for little yardage.

Bissaccia's new contract was dangling in front of him....although a fumble/blocked field goal were unlikely, why risk it?

Losing stinks but that was a crazy good game. The 4th and 21 pass for the TD and the final drive of regulation was incredible. I get the Staley criticism but I also remember last year when we weren't playing really meaningful games in December. Lynn was ultra conservative, Staley errors on the side of aggression. I'll take the latter everytime.

Probably should clarify. I'm referring to preferring a coach that's tendency is to be aggressive vs a coach that has a tendency to be conservative. Certainly agree that not every decision has to be agressive.

That is not going for the win.....at the very least, its hedging your bet.

Belichick once went for it on his own 28 yard line against Indy and failed near the end of a game.....they lost.

He never repeated that mistake.

Staley keeps on blabbing about analytics driven decisions......he'll never learn with that mindset.
Coming up with exact percentages on the success and winning percentage of any given play in the 3rd quarter is absurd...monumentally absurd.
Success leaves you with the ball on the 20 yard line...
what's been gained with success?

He needs to rethink that aspect of his coaching.
