Yeah, twice rushers came free through the left side. One looked to be Slater's man and the other one Feiler's, but there was some kind of miscommunication.

One of the problems with PFF is they ASSUME that NFL players know who to block on every play. So if Slater was blocking someone, they assumed Feiler was the one making the mistake. However, if Lindsay or Feiler made a call on the line, it could have been Slater's job to block down.

I don't think that was the case, just pointing out that PFF would credit it as a mistake on Feiler, because they have no way of knowing who was supposed to block whom.

As far as Slater and the pro bowl, it might happen, but remember that the pro bowl is mostly a popularity contest. So, unless he gets talked up a bunch on the Chargers few nationally televised games, most people still won't know him, and he might get passed over, even if he is the most deserving LT in the AFC.

After the job Slater is doing, every tackle prospect should be trying to get in with him.

The last season the Chargers had a rookie starting at LT, they finished the season as the No. 1 seed. I'm talking about Marcus McNeill of course, in 2006. McNeill was 4th in voting for OROY that year. I don't know the last time an OL got that many votes. I don't know if any OL has won OROY. McNeill was Offensive Rookie of the Month for September 2006. Does Slater deserve to be in the OROY conversation for 2021? One thing's for sure, Slater-Feiler are the best left side combination this the team has had since McNeill-Dielman.

Absolutely. He's having a better season so far (and admittedly it's early) than Lawrence and the other QBs.

However, an offensive lineman has never won the Pro Football Writers' Offensive Rookie of the Year award:

I think the Chargers could have both the offensive and the defensive rookies of the year.

A probowl selection sounds like a good consolation prize
