I forgot....Henning was a failed HC in Atlanta or somewhere prior to Chargers, wasn't he? His teams remind me of Staleys. Always almost good enough to win but don't win.
TG
Henning had Billy fricken Joe Tolliver as his starting qb.
No, he doesn't remind me of Staley
I get at the time Telesco was just hired
I also understand that Ron Wolf was part of the search committee
but why Telesco wasn't banging the drum big time for Arians - and I think a lot of it was age - 40ish HC with the 40ish GM building a long term foundation
but Arians would have built a better staff, Rivers would have played better
That was a big miss by the Ron Wolf committee and Telesco thinking Arians was "too old"
Does Staley have anyone older than 40 on his staff?
Lombo was the lone 50 + guy on last year's staff.
Brandon Staley has one of the hottest seats in the NFL at the moment as the Chargers have routinely been a team that oozes talent on both sides of the ball, but questionable coaching moments haven't allowed them to reach their full potential. The team is currently .500 entering Week 10 and if they miss the playoffs that could spell the end to not only Staley's tenure but possibly even GM Tom Telesco's as well if the Spanos family decides to clean house. For Belichick, this landing spot is similar to what we described with Dallas, but has one key difference: Justin Herbert. Herbert is one of the most talented quarterbacks in the NFL and if Belichick aligns himself with the former first-round pick and builds a winning culture around him, the sky is the limit for Los Angeles.

Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
The Wasted Decade is done.
Build Back Better.

Anyone watch a superhero coach in Denver beat Bills after beating Chiefs. Now we have 2 Super Bowl winners in AFC West.
Go spandy
Head coaching matters.
You can't win in the NFL consistently if your head coach is in over his head.
Denver winning only helps: it showcases how crucial it is to get a good head coach.
The Spanos think they can get by with mediocrities, and get help around them.
This team OOOOOZES talent. Starting at QB. Except for ownership and management, this is a great coaching opportunity.
that's the thing. if a HC comes here and is shackled by johnboy...who'd want that? to be overridden by some son of a nepotistic idjit who knows less football than a legit HC has forgotten? there's plenty of cons to go against the pros to coach this team.
