I think MW balls out this year. Motivation for that 2nd contract.

I think so too but believe he is gonna get more money elsewhere next season.

        True, unfortunately.

When I watch those great Saints offenses of the last decade I see a lot of crisp route runners and speedsters—Deverey Henderson, Marquis Colston, Lance Moore, Michael Thomas, Meachem, Cooks.

MW doesn’t exactly fit the prototype.

Almost as good as David Boston.

Ahhh... good ol’ Meachem. So much hype when we signed him. Didn’t do squat, took our lunch money then went back to NO like he never left. Must be coaching.

I think MW will be too expensive to re-sign, but lets get the most out of him this season.

If that is the case, he’ll bet us a high comp pick in 2023.

                      Bringing in Boston ?

I thought it was AJ's doing.

Regardless- as I recall we were all for it.

Per Jeff Duncan in "Payton and Brees"; Meachem was an excellent complimentary receiver that was a speedster but lacked natural hip flexion and when he ran routes that required him make quick cuts and change direction he slowed down and DBs could easily cover him. So the Saints only had him run posts, seams and corners. Lombardi said he was strong, had speed and was excellent at tracking the ball and for him it always needed to be a 200 yard dash or rounding second to third.

The Chargers hired him in 2012 as our #1 receiver and he was terrible because he wasn't used properly.

Anyway the book has a lot of detail on Lombardi's coaching theories and methods. It's a good read.
