I'd be surprised at a RB in the 1st. I really would.
With the 17th pick, the SD Chargers select ...

What defensive player we can draft makes the of fence better? A top RB can help extend drives in our system and keep the defense rested. I doubt we get a pass rushing difference maker at 17 that is as safe a pick and we could land Shay Rae and or Randy Gregory between the 2nt and 4th picks the way they are falling... Not that I would gamble on either. They did however push up other OLB prospects but less talented ones and I'm not thrilled after Dupree and Beasley goes off the board...Go Rivers!

Melvin Gordon. I'd rather have Gurley but I have a strong feeling Gurley will go in top 10. I think he's gonna be special and quite a few teams know it

Because I'm going based off of those RB's still being availible in the 2nd round..Which some say they will be availible. I hope so. Eitherway I feel were in desperate need of an Elite or future Elite pass rusher and we can settle for a nice RB in the 2nd with one of those dudes.Originally posted by KNSD View PostHow is the 1st round pick not a RB if one of those two dudes in available?

Nevermind on Ameer Abdullah...I just rewatched his highlights and we already have a similar runner in Oliver. They have the same body build and have Simliar styles, Atleast from what I saw.
Gurley is damn fast...The type of fast the doesn't look fast, And makes it look easy. I definately don't want Gordon. Gordon looks like the type of RB who will start out mediocre and maybe get better in his later years, Kinda like Mark Ingram.

I agree. However, the possibility of needing surgery to fix a turf toe problem combined with the knucklehead decision raises big red flags.Originally posted by Mister Hoarse View PostI gotta seriously consider Ray if he falls to our spot. Pass Rush is our most impactful way to improve.

Needless to say, I think we need pass rush, OG (0r RT and mive Fluker inside), and RB in some order in the first three rounds. It is a very deep WR draft, and as much as I like the idea of a big play WR early, I think we need to address the other issues first.

Unless we trade up for Cooper, I don't see any WR in this draft who can come in and play enough to make it worthwhile their rookie season. Not that adding a top prospect to develop wouldn't be bad, just that a rookie would be inactive most of the time. Plus they keep talking about getting Green more PT, which is going to mean less 3 WR sets, not more.

IMO RB is a primary need. Woodhead is on the back side of his career coming off an injry, Brown flopped, and Oliver is just a guy. A very courageous dude, but just a guy nonetheless.Originally posted by Steve View PostBy virtue of RB not being a primary need. We have Oliver, Brown and Woodhead, plus we can still add a solid back later. I'm not saying it won't be them, but I think it is fairly low on the need scale.Prediction:
Correct: Chargers CI fails miserably.
Fail: Team stays in San Diego until their lease runs out in 2020. (without getting new deal done by then) .
Sig Bet WIN: The Chargers will file for relocation on January 15.

Agree on the RB position. Either you grab one of the two heavies in the first round or you pick from a decent group of second tier guys in the second. IMO, the position needs to be addressed in the first three rounds at the latest.I'll ride the wave...where it takes me.
