Telesco seems to emphasize choir boys as much as anyone.

Maybe the offensive coordinator is in over his head.
Maybe there is just too much to process for all the players to all be on the same page.

Lombardi flamed out in Detroit and now needs to show me something.

    It's week 2.

How long should we wait? Until we dig a hole so deep we can’t climb out? Another season gone by? No, fuck no. This is urgent

        They can, but will they.

Staley made a big point in PS that he likes to tell players they "why". A case in point that we saw somewhat today is that to try and stop the Cowboys outside and offtackle runs, we tried to run stunts to get more bodies out there. But today, Staley mentioned that the DL stunted the wrong direction, meaning that the LB who where expecting the DL to be on the slant to the correct side, were defending the same gaps as the DL, leaving the big holes on the other side of the line.

If you are a defender, and as they are putting the game plan in, you should start thinking about how it will play out. You can see from the call sheet that you are going to be slanting, so what kinds of formations and personnel groups do the Cowboys like to run outside or off tackle? What downs and distances do they do it?

The D should be thinking that is what they will be doing? If Dallas lines up in a formation that they like to run outside go ahead and anticipate some of that.

If it is an adjustment called by the captain on the field, when might he be looking for to go to that adjustment, so I can anticipate it and be a bit quicker on the snap.

I think Staley needs to keep at the doing the "why". Force the players to think about the situational awareness part of the game. I remember hearing Chris Cooley (former Redskins TE), that only a small fraction of NFL players are really situationally aware, thinking of the how and why play by play during the game. Mostly they just think, this is the play, this what I do in that play. In the NFL, they also need to know about what all the players on the field are doing.

How much more can Staley get out of all of our numb skulls by thinking their way through the situations of the game, to be ready to make that play here or there?

Pipkins may play a more premium position, but he isn't a premium player to be taking a premium roster spot. You could have just as easily cut him and stashed him on the PS, it is doubtful anyone would have given him a look, and even if so, he hasn't shown that he's worthy of a full-time roster spot on this team anyway.

And obviously, we didn't cut Johnson directly because of keeping Pipkins, but keeping Pipkins meant we had to substract other players. At least, Johnson has shown he can contribute at a high level unlike Pipkins and is worthy of a roster spot on an NFL 53-man squad.

The question here for you and everyone is, would you be comfortable having Pipkins start anywhere on the offensive line if any of the current starters go out at any point in the season? If the answer is no, what exactly is the point in keeping him? We drafted McKitty to help block on run plays and act as support, you may as well have him do what Pipkins is doing now, but with the added advantage that he can act a passing threat as well.

Offense didn’t score a TD after driving the length of the field.

Defense couldnt get a stop with the game on the line.

Btw there are some people here that bitch and complain about Chargers fans bitching and complaining.

I’d like those people to check out the Chiefs forum (ChiefsPlanet) right now. There are threads on that forum about missing playoffs, Andy Reid being a “terrible” HC, some very vulgar insults about their defensive coordinator Spagnulo and lot of hate posts about Edwards-Hilaire and Frank Clark.

This is a team that’s basically dominated the NFL for the last 3-4 years in the reg season and has been to two SBs and won of them. Has a QB that’s basically the most talented QB to ever play this game with very little weaknesses and well on his way to surpassing Tom Brady eventually as the greatest ever.

So if a team like that has fans that are saying all this shit after a loss then a team like the Chargers that has barely sniffed playoffs twice in the 8 year tenure of Tom Telesco (and has never ever won a super bowl in over 60 years of existence) can definitely complain and bitch as well.
Tom Telesco’s Results in 9 years as Chargers GM:

                - 69-74 record
                - 0 division titles in 9 yrs as GM
                - Worst record among all active GMs with same tenure
                - 6th worst winning percentage among all active GMs overall
                - 2 playoff wins despite elite QB all 9 yrs
                - Team still has the same weaknesses (Oline and run defense) that it had when hired as GM in 2013
                - Consistently puts together horrible depth, expects starters to never miss games

Sure you can play smarter. We had nowhere near the same amount of back breaking penalties against WFT.

We didn’t lose today because we didn’t have Johnson. So let it go that he’s gone for now.

They haven't throw the ball deep to Guyton all year.
