A few thoughts......... I think its overpay for Uchenna and Kyzir. IDK just seems high to me for those guys. Seems very high for Uchenna for what he has done in 4 years and no way id sign Rashad Penny. He has been hurt his entire NFL tenure. Ive no faith he will even play half a season for us though that is cheap for him. Need a more reliable RB like Ronald Jones, Conner although you did draft Ford. Other than that, nice work.
And how did we get 2 third rounders?Last edited by Boltjolt; 12-22-2021, 11:59 AM.

If Uchenna asks for $11.5 million/year, I'm re-signing Fackrell and drafting an EDGE.
If Kyzir is asking $8 million/year, I'm finding a cheaper FA and drafting LB in the 3rd/4th
I might pay Justin Jones $6 million/year... I might just find a cheaper FA and draft an IDL in the 4th/5th.
Have you tried the Spotrac Cap Managing tool? I don't think you could fit that under the cap.
Justin Jones, that makes sense
Uchenna - not sure he will get 11.5m like NInja notes but he is better than FAckrell
Here is the thing - yes players can be cheaper but are they better. And drafting for depth is good but maybe not always the best. You said, sign Fackrell and draft. Well Fackrell was decent depth but he is not Nwosu and drafting for need, not always the best as the board may not line up how you want
The Chargers are in a prime position with their cap space and key players in place (Herbert, Linsley, Ekeler, Slater, Feiler, James, Bosa, Samuel, Mike Davis - you bring back the three guys on defense) - so they do not need to go cheap.
I think Ninja did a solid job - very well thought out. He and I disagree about Mike Williams - I am letting him test the market to see what the market thinks) - but overall it was solid
And like Ninja said, Player AAV <> Player cap hit.

Overpay is subjective.
Top paid ILB are in the +$16M APY. Kyzir at half that in this market is cheap.
Top paid EDGE players are +$24M APY. Uchenna locked up at half that is a bargain.
Penny is a gamble that is why I used high draft capital on Ford. Would give us a strong 1,2,3 punch @RB.My 2021 Adopt-A-Bolt List

Yes. I use it for every one of these. I still have $21.7M in Cap space left. You know Cap hits are not equal per year, correct?
My detailed plan was posted several pages back. I also posted a link to my roster...
Simply drop Nwuso out, insert Fackrell, split Nwosu's money ($6 million) between Fackrell and White.

Uchenna is starting to come on the last month in tis different defense so thats a good sign. And we likely will draft an Edge as well. I still think that is a little high for him so we'll see. Id assume Staley wants him back since he said he is perfect for their defense.

11 player draft class: so around $10m
10-15 players needed to get the roster to 53: so about $10m
Practice Squad and during the season IR Slush Fund: around $7m
I have the Chargers at around 55m of cap space releasing Bulaga and accounting for some of the above.
And I split the above with resigning their own players: Nwosu, Aboushi, Parham, Norton, Kyzir, Justin Jones, maybe a couple others
And the rest for free agency.

First time ive tried this. Kinda cool. Saw it last year but never tried it. So this is my roster before the draft after resigning and signing some other free agents. Though id like to keep Reed but couldnt figure out how.
And this is not right as Ninja said, the cap hits wont be the same every year. So MW first year cap hit wont be 16.5 mil.
Not sure how to make it to be years and not ave salary but using this you can not break down cap hits with contract lengths.
Free agent years totals at bottom.

I just keep a spreadsheet and I haven't figured out the numbers but I have between 20 and 25m - of the $55 for non Charger players
I have Telesco bringing back Aboushi, Nwosu, White, Jones, tendering Parham and Norton, a few more that will probably take close to 30m in cap. Plus some of the guys they might bring back, Chase Daniels for example, might be a veteran minimum player. But with that other say 20-25 - they can be aggressive if a guy like Adams comes about . Mainly, they would have money for 2, maybe three players. But they have to be targeted and hopefully impactful. I keep going back to the Broncos of Ware, Talib and Ward.
EDIT: Using OTC.com for cap space with the current Top 33 - I added 11 draft picks (as they should get 4 comp picks) plus 9 other players at the minimum to get to the roster size , I come up with $54m of cap space; adding Bulaga would push that figure to $65m
Removing $10m for a slush fund and practice squad - I think the team having $55m to "offseason with" is a pretty good number to start withLast edited by Bolt4Knob; 12-23-2021, 09:54 AM.
