If the drafted RB is not named Bijan - I think the kid from Tulane might be the way to go. Tyjae Spears. 5'11, 195 and ran a 4.47 40 at the combine. I think a bit faster at pro-day

Works for me. Don’t want to spend a second on a maybe better than Kelley guy.

Exactly - you do not spend that kind of draft capital to draft a RB that is not better than Kelley or Spiller. Still have no clue what the team has in Spiller

He isn't as good as Chubb either.

the Charbonator looks like he runs a hell of a lot stronger than Kelley to my naked eye, he’ll knock some defenders over. Kelley doesnt compliment Eke, he just substitutes for him but not as good.

Read an article: Austin Ekeler or Michael Davis if you had to make a choice between signing one or the other. To which I submit, Davis looks as if he’s coming on strong now, whereas, he didn’t two years ago. If fact, many were down on the guy. Austin Ekeler on the other hand, missed some games but was never questionable about his being a vital part of Herbert’s becoming the monster QB that is his status now. TT has a huge decision to make. Produce a running attack without Ekeler, or, keep Davis as an improving possible stalwart on defense. The key is how JC Jackson’s awaited performance fits into the picture along with the current cap space situation. No doubt this will be TT’s most challenging off season of his career.

Davis if I had to pick one

But at this point - probably not doing either - there is just no need. The Chargers have the cap space to sign the rookie class, maybe even JJ3 and another veteran and the rest are veteran minimum players.

Unless they want to make another vet acq move post-draft, which is very possible, TT already shuffled the cap enough for 2023. They can watch Davis another year to decide on another contract, his last 2 years were 1 horrible 1 great - get the tiebreaker. That would allow them to decide on JJ and him together and if/when they re-sign Vato in 2024 they can push cap away from 2024 or dump JJ cap to allocate to him.

Eke probably is shredding his last blistering riff for LAC in 2023 is my guess. But hey - who knows eh?

I saw an article that the Commanders might be one of the few teams that could discuss trade for Ekler. This trade was thrown out there.

Ekler for Antonio Gibson and 5th round pick

                      Thoughts?

I think Gibson was under used in Washington and did have to learn RB as he was receiver in college so you know he can catch passes. Has one 1000 yard season under his belt. Had 11 TDs last year

                      Only 24 years old
                      6 ft 2 220
                      runs 4.39

so brings much needed speed and explosiveness to this offence

I would do it as you also move a discontented player in Ekler who is 4 years older and wants way more money. Remember, Chargers want to pay for future production not past production. Moore might have fun with this guy

I see a couple of problems which extend league wide not just Washington. Washington is not doing this for a 1 year rental. 2nd problem Ekeler wants a multiyear contract, whose asking price is too high. So what's he going to settle for? It's going to take three parties to agree. I don't see it happening before FA and the draft is over. By then the Chargers and other teams will know what they have. Some desperate team that's not happy with their RB situation could possibly take the bait.

There is no need to push money to lower the cap hits for Davis - just let the year play out

Now if they hadn't pushed so much money on the other 4 - maybe it made sense. I say just see how the year goes
