Ekeler was listed at 5-7.5, 195 lbs at his pro day. Don't forget, the Ekeler is pound for pound strongest man on the team. Exceptionally strong athlete.

MJD began his career much like Ekeler, a complementary back to Fred Taylor in Jacksonville. In his fourth season he got the opportunity to become the feature back, and exploded for 1,400 yards in 2009. He put up more than 1,300 yards in 2010 and more than 1,600 yards in 2011. He peaked that year at age 26 then injuries caught up with him and he declined rapidly, retiring at age 29.
In terms of running style, Ekeler is a North and South runner with explosion and surprising power. MJD was also North-South, mostly power with deceptive speed. Use Ekeler correctly for longevity.

Justin Jackson is similar to Barry Sanders or LeSean McCoy. Comparisons in running style and durability are apt. See JJ's consistent college production.

Did you read the quote? The comparison was made between the size of the two RBs to make the point that smaller than average RBs can take the punishment of a feature back in the NFL. There was no comparison of the talent between the two RBs.

I re watched the game at KC yesterday (it was too hot outside!)
JJ: 16 carries for 58 yards
              Newsome: 6 for 34 yards
Not bad, the total looks like the numbers of MG when he's in shape: 22 for 92

I sure did. don't get defensive, brother pepper - its all good. forums are for fun. i read your blurb about Eke and the quick jump to comparison to Barry Sanders. thats funny. eke is no barry sanders.

fwiw, i don't necessarily find eke too small, but he does not run like a power back. He's much better as a 3rd down change of pace back, not an everydown back. we have never seen anything to contradict this perception. I expect JJ becomes the every down back (at least, more than any of the others) if MG refuses to come in. Depending on what Cox or Pope show in PS, Dez as a short yard option.

PFF did rank MGIII the No. 3 best overall RB in 2018. He was No. 1 in beating stacked boxes - 8 or more defenders at the LOS.

Sproles couldn't take the punishment in place of LT and his productivity dropped way off. Ekeler couldn't either with a full work load in place of MGIII and got hurt because of it- what was it concussion and ankle sprain- that cost him multiple games? Dunno why fans always want to extrapolate success of a specialist with limited touches into a super productive starter.

Ekeler was hurt on special teams when he took a full speed helmet hit to the SIDE of his helmet. Screwed up his neck. It was probably an onside kick play. That has nothing to do with durability.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
