Saw some speculation that Detroit might be interested. Do they have anything that they could package with a 3rd?

              TC holdout? Into the season?

Chargers, Melvin Gordon appear far apart

Chargers running back Melvin Gordon is threatening to hold out into the season if the team doesn't give him the raise he wants. And the team may tell him to go ahead.

The Chargers are dug in on their stance not to extend Gordon, Charles Robinson of Yahoo reports. According to the report, an extension would only come soon if Gordon and his camp lower their asking price, because the Chargers aren't inclined to meet what he's seeking.

It's easy to see why the Chargers feel that way: Running backs have been replaced across the NFL, and the Chargers already have a younger, cheaper running back in Austin Ekeler who has played well the last two years.

Eventually, Gordon is going to show up if the Chargers hold firm, because he would gain nothing by skipping the whole season. The Chargers may just decide to stand firm until Gord

                It is a no brainer.
                Melvin will report week 10.
He will probably be disappointed in the FA offers he gets next year, too.

I don't want to say who agrees with you. If he waits until week 10, it's gonna be ugly

That's the thing. He wants to be paid or traded & I dont think any other team is going to trade for him & then meet his demands either.

Gordon will be lucky to get 3 years, an option for a 4th year with a decent escalator, an out after 2 years, $10 mil a year, with a very small signing bonus and only about 1/4 of the total amount guaranteed...

I see it exactly the same way.
                        There is no realistic solution.

I don't think there's any way Gordon holds out until week 10. As the season gets closer he's going to see that there is no way the Chargers are going to pay what he thinks he's worth. He and his agent are also going to realize that there's not the market for his services that they believe. The Chargers aren't giving him away, and I don't see any team parting with the picks and/or players the Chargers will demand in compensation as well as the high $$$ contract Gordon is seeking.
