The Colts don't have any really experienced edge rushers who will scare anyone. Darius Leonard is an effective blitzers, but he can attack the line anywhere. If we had to have a game with Tevi and Scott starting, the Colts is a pretty good group.
I think Popper is kinda stupid about the cap hit. The going forward part is fine, but who cares at this point in the season if the OT take up a huge part of the cap?
There is an argument to be made about rolling over some of the cap for next year, but that is not what he is saying. Plus, that is only a band aid fix on the cap, since it only helps temporarily.
He says you don't want to spend too much in a single area, but that is so you don't put too much in one area at the expense of another. Who else would we be able to spend it on?
We need to keep a reserve to sign guys off the street or vet FA, but you can get that by cutting/not paying Gordon.
The extension of what Popper is saying is that we would also not consider a FA, since there is no FA who is an upgrade over TEvi we could afford for Trent Williams salary. We would likely get a much worse player for a lot more money if you went the FA route.Last edited by Steve; 08-27-2019, 05:45 AM.

I could see Feeney and Lamp as starting OGs with Scho a backup.“Less is more? NO NO NO - MORE is MORE!”
