Didn't read, but our ONLY SB appearance was with what I'd call an "average" QB so....

This sums up my feelings to a tee on why I don't want to go with Taylor.

I've come to terms with it. If he fails then we are in a somewhat good possition to trade up for Lawrence or whoever. if we don't draft a QB but we will. Probably not at 6.

If we upgrade the team overall, we will be better than 5-11. Our depth last year was not good.

Starting in the 2010( our first year without LT) season- the past decade- we're 2 games under .500( or there abouts).
If that doesn't scream mediocre, I don't know what does.
Going forward, in hopes of beating KC, we need a strong D and ball control offense( keep their track team off the field). Game manager QB might work.

I'd rather take a chance and hit and miss on a QB with the potential to be good or great than to go with a merely serviceable QB that will leave your team out of the top 5 picks most years by delivering you just enough to languish in mediocrity. That is the biggest trap I can see.

You still have the other picks to build out your team even if you miss on a good QB prospect. If he happens to fail or not live expectations, well then hey, you're still left with even better draft picks in the process while he fails and then you can try it all over again.
who is your guy then, and what makes you so in love w/said prospect, and willing to throw out the concerns that others have about him ??

personally am not in the camp of gotta trade up and draft a QB in the top 1-2-3, as last year was all about Stidham, and this year think Fromm is gonna be a plenty decent NFL QB, and maybe even Eason as well ??

the other thing if you get your superstar HoF QB, then it's only a matter of time before he guts your payroll and you're limping into the playoffs lamenting all the holes on your roster, and/or what coulda, woulda, shoulda been.

Cam won 15 games and made it to a SB.... chances are he's more than serviceable.... not in love w/him, albeit Taylor is def @least decent/serviceable as well.

personally think the flaw comes in when drafting for need, as prefer to draft for what will most impact my win column, and long-term yes is preferable, and.... just not convinced that Tua/Herbert is a long-term winning stratagem.

well, looking over the roster, wondering just how much, if any the better we might be than 5-11/last year ??

eye would like to say yes given our additions and w/the draft in front of us, and.... not so sure that's gonna be the case, as without fail team TommyJohn disappoints in the draft (again speaking for myself @least).

for me, the main losses to overcome are PR & MG, and then Okung/Pouncey.... will TT address those concerns in the draft ?? QB & RB likely, Oline not so much, as he has reverted to form and gone FA/trade there, along w/extending Mike P.

the chances for an improved record are many....

Hunter Henry * can play more than the handful or so games that he did last season, and improve on his body of work on top of that
Derwin James * can play a full 16 games and benefit from another year of NFL football under his belt
MIke Pouncey * if he comes back healthy and plays anywhere near 16 games, would be a huge boost to our Oline play
Linval Joseph * if he proves to be an upgrade to Brandon, then there is some plus value @NT for us
Denzel Perryman * personally would like to see him start and play all 16 games, as think that would boost our record some as well
Mike Davis * if he logs 16 starts or thereabouts, that would seem to be a plus as well win wise
Nasir Adderley * now this guy could really add to our fortunes, if he can overcome an apparent coaching bias against his seeing the field
Chris Harris * upgrades our secondary on paper, and again if he delivers and is durable over the course of a full season
Brian Bulaga * really upgrades our Oline for if and when he can sustain his contribution over the course of 16 games
Desmond King * peoples said his game fell off last year, so if and when he returns to form and then some that is def another plus

so there is a theme here.... injury concern, and how well has our FO insulated ourselves from the such.... is it dumb luck or can a player's injury history lend some credence to @least being prepared and hedging some of your bets above ??

if we do replace PR in the draft, which is the guy that team Tommy John covets.... Tua, Herbert, Love, Hurts, or.... ?? and is Cam completely out of the realm of possibilities ??

can see replacing MG via the draft, and most likely day two, and.... would we go Ekel & Hyde on top of that in FA still, or double dip in the draft ?? or do you pay for Fournette in FA ?? and what about Derek Watt.... is there an upgrade on the horizon there as well ??

Travis is gone @wideout, so do you have to get another burner to take the top off the D, or are you content w/just getting the bra/best receiver available, when the value falls to you, or do you shock the world @6 (again) ?? and do you double down/dip day three as well, given the uncertainty/injury concerns @the position ?? or are Andre Patton and Anthony Johnson or someone else on the roster, better than peoples think/give them credit for ?? do we have a replacement for the production that once upon a time was Dontrelle Inman ??

is Donald Parham the answer @TE, and does he do more than just provide depth on paper, or is he going to be a versatile addition to the O ?? will we miss Kendricks/Culkin @all ??

how steady/reliable is Bulaga gonna be ?? do we have anything @the other tackle ?? Tevi's dancing feet, Lamp's footwork, a Trent Scott resurrection or a Pipkins insurrection ?? !! does Telesco trust the draft/himself w/the drafting of more Oline resources ?? does he think tackle is a must get @6, or does he prefer another developmental prospect ala Pips day two or even three ?? or do we prefer to sit tight and go w/a perhaps more reliable albeit susceptible to missing some games, veteran like Jason Peters @LT ??

does Trai Turner return to the Pro Bowl ?? is Dan Feeney a left or right guard ?? does the switch finally come on for Forrest (Lamp ?? or is Tevi or Scott perhaps better off inside ?? is no Scho a deficiency now, or do we draft a day three hedge against all of the aforementioned ??

does the extension of Pouncey prove to be a prudent biz decision ?? does he show up for the full season and bring some law & order to our Oline ?? could Qberry improve off a season where he already exceeded most peoples expectations ?? can we upgrade Ryan Groy in the off chance that Mike P. is not cleared to play, or can't make it for parts of the season ?? or do we repeat history @the OC w/either Ruiz or the likes of a Tuerk/Watt ( we may already be in the process of repeating the failed Watt experiment by placing Dan @the OC ?)

and in theory, the deal is that by drafting (and playing) a rookie QB, or going w/the modest salary of Tyrod, that you would have monies enough to (properly) fill out your roster....

so far Sly and Square are both MIA.... is PJ enough for that sandwich @NT, or are we better served by looking in the draft for Linval reinforcements/rotational support ??

and what are we doing @MLB ?? Denzel seems like he has been half ushered off the field/out of the building, and they are half anointing Drue the position, and half mentioning that both Vigil and Malik Jefferson can play the position, not to mention that Kyzir has seen snaps there as well, and.... is that gonna get it done ?? is there someone in the draft lurking mid rounds ?? aren't Drue, Denzel and Kyzir all health/injury concerns ?? little shaky here by my suspicions, and.... who replaces Dzubnar on STs ??

and does Isaiah solve all our woes @WIL ?? what does he do that Derwin wasn't supposed to do after we drafted him ?? is Drue really not a WIL ?? how 'bout Vigil and/or (Malik) Jefferson ?? we've lost Jatavis (and Thomas Davis) here and AP @dimebacker.... how many times do we have to go the well @this one position ?? get it right team TommyJohn or be forever resigned to the realms of Matt Mi!!enism.

is Rayshawn an elite FS or a backup SS ?? who spells AP for us behind Derwin ?? does Desmond fill those shoes or does Tom surprise us w/someone in the draft ?? and does Nasir step up and make us forget about Jaylen Watkins, or would it've been a good idea to keep him a part of things back there ?? how do six guys (DBs) all see the field in a 4-2-5 ?? and that's not counting Simmons (a 4-1-6 anyone ?)

I just don't trust o-linemen to stay healthy. Which is why I'm in favor of drafting three of them in the first four rounds. If the o-line is truly that deep this draft we have to take advantage. C'mon Tommy T, show us you're learned something. Quit being cute and do the prudent thing!

Yes. Why do you think no one else in the league is touching him? He is injury ridden, and a bit of a basket case...
