At the time I wrote this, Lombardi was holding Herbert back. I agree about Hadl having Alworth, Hadl would not have put up those numbers without #19.

He also had Gary Garrison who average 18.1 yds/reception. Deep passing was a big part of the Sid Gilman offense.

Very similar to JH10’s projected season #’s
37-38 projected passing TDs is the biggest variation.

Doable. Need the D to get the ball back in his hands more.

I know what he is doing ... I get it.

QBR is still a fake stat

Herbert is still top 5 in total passing yards (3,230-4th) and TD passes (24-5th).

Herbert is so good and it seems many of the members don't realize what a prize he is. I begin to drool when I think about the points he'd put on the board with a stout OL and running game. Imagine if he had Alworth and Garrison!

I don't know how many of you remember Hadl but I'll remind you John Hadl was a hot and cold QB. He could kill a team for half the game and then give it away for the next half. He could be great one week and terrible the next week. He also played behind one of the best O lines we have ever had.

I've been so spoiled by Herbert that any bad game makes me think..."looks like the DCs have him figured out". So long as I dont have that half the time I'm good.

There is not a QB in the league who hasn't had a poor game.
Often those poor games coinside with protection issues and/or drops and/or lack of run game support.

What have some of the great QBs who have been league MVPs done this year where QBR says the were below avg or worse.

The Goat Brady has QBRs of 30 and 42
                          Rodgers has QBRs of 12, 26, 48.
                          Mahomes has QBRs of 6, 20, 41, 44, 45, 47.

                          Herbert has QBRs 18, 19, 40, 43

So Rogers was below avg 3 times, Brady twice, Mahomes 6 times. And Herbert 4 times.

Stafford who is 2nd overall in QBR. He has a 15, 35, 45.

All the good QBs have had multiple games where QBR is saying they were below avg that day. And then Rodgers, Mahomes and Stafford worst game is even worse than Herbert's worst game this year.

Herbert is currently #1 in QBR.
So if that stat matter to you, you should feel great about our QB.
And because he is younger and less experienced than the others and he is in a new system, you should feel good about Herbert future. And for those of us that are down on Lombardi. His QB is #1 in QBR right now. So......you know stats they can be viewed in all sorts of ways. But, the only stats that matters is winning. And Herbert as someone posted is 11-6 as the starter of his past 17 games. Not bad for a young guy halfway through his 2nd season. And he did that in spite of continuous personnel and protection issue in front of him.

Who has it better than us?
