Complete clownshow by this organization...no need to rush to sign him long term when we still had two years to evaluate him, especially in a new system to see if King Checkdown was a product of the prior system or a deeper flaw (among other red flags, batted passes, etc).
And no, I don't think Burrow would have driven up Herbert's price (at least not significantly IMO) as Burrow himself has said he didn't want to break the bank so the Bengals could still sign free agents.
Seriously zero incentive to rush into this, it's a huge gamble now.

Is this a joke? Herbert has something to prove before being extended ? Are you a dolphins fan jealous this isn’t tuas deal ?

Herbert has rare size, a rocket launcher for an arm and can beat pursuit angles with his speed and athleticism. He has a smooth and quick stroke for a long-levered quarterback. While he has the strongest arm in this class, he has struggled with the consistency of his ball placement on deep throws and needs to continue to refine his touch on underneath throws. Herbert is tough inside the pocket and will stare down the barrel, but he has struggled under pressure throughout his career. -- Steve Muench
The money is crazy....but I disagree with Muench..... Herbert excels on 4th downs(cant have much more pressure than that).....and Before lombardi, Herbert played his best when under pressure and chased out of pocket, etc..... ad libbing lon the fly and heaving ball downfield.....
Awesome, glad to see this taken care of. Last year just about everything went wrong for Herbert. This year I think we see exactly how high a floor an elite QB with a good OC and pretty good weapons gives you. I think Herbert is awesome next year and covers up a lot of flaws to the tune of a very good record.
