FA/Trade: Mack, JCJ, AJ, Callahan, SJD, Fox, KVN, Reeder, Davison
Draft/UDFA: Ogbongo, Leonard, Taylor, Woods … think I’m missing someone here ? …

Did i get this right - 13 new defensive players in 2022? Thats a boatload by any count. (I welcome corrections … )
I miss counted yes but not counting draft picks because the topic was Staley got his types on defense in FAcy.
Woods and the CBs weren't expected to start and they didn't. Doubt the CBs start next year.

Imo any picks 3rd round pick on down shouldn't be expected to start and if they do, that's a bonus. Or you have an injury, or your team stinks.

even just FA - thats a huge change in roster. Huge. It was unfortunate AJ and JCJ both went to IR early in the year.

Not sure why some teams have a big turnaround in year one of a new system and we don't.

Players will say "it's just football" but clearly a better system works or maybe it's a more simplified system.

But Jax for example the last two years has added some good players in FAcy and the draft but picking top 3 always helps.

And Herbert did say Lombos offense was complex and he was drowning at first in it..

I think there are a lot of reads the WRs and QBs have to make during the plays and that makes it complex. Such as Everett going one way while Herbert expects him to go another. They need to be on the same page. Among other things like long terminology.

Ever hear one of Grudens play calls? Holy hell lol.

if Bijan is on the board, tell BPA experts to eat a bag of dicks and rush that card to the podium. The science of “BPA” has so much subjectivity, bias and personal opinion its a laughable fallacy to state with perfect precision who the BPA even is at any given moment in the draft. If they can’t identify at least 10 “better” players than who you want to take that are clearly better - its just an opinion = preference of the expert. Bijan is not a reach at 21, period. The only question is will he even be there.
Out of curiosity, not trying to start an argument, but why would you of all people want to invest a first-round pick on a running back when you don't want to run the ball that often? You've stated you're all about Justin Herbert throwing it 45 times a game.

I'm leaning heavily to going Bijon in the first if available then Darnell Washington in the second to bolster both the run game and the passing game. Use free agency for the defence and go online dline for depth in the draft

After watching more Bijan tape, as well as with obviously liking him,.... his teammate Rochon Johnson is no slouch at RB either. He is 6'2", 223 lb's and has some wiggle and speed. So I went to his tape and read up on him.

A former HS QB in the form of Hurts who moved to RB at Texas. If not for Bijan, he would be their #1 RB and in the 4th round, he can be had. His YPC are right there with Bijan. They used him also in the wildcat at Texas and he can catch the ball as well.

I just can't see us taking a RB until the later rounds. DL and WR are issues at the top of the list.

I like Bijan in the 1st for a few reasons

The Jacksonville game. We couldn't run in the 2nd 1/2. This is partially due to injuries on the offensive line, but also due to not having a running back comparable to Ek on the roster

Ek is a great back, but he is also on the smallish side for a RB. We were very lucky he didn't miss substantial time to injury last year.

Robinson is a blue chip prospect. He's a different kind of runner than Ek, but great in his own way. Every time he touches the ball, it could go to the house.

With Robinson, every team would have to be concerned about the running back, on every play. Think of how someone like Ek, Barkley, Henry, etc. dictate to a defense.

I know this is a bit backhanded for logic, but I can't stomach the thought of him falling to the Chiefs or the Bills.

I get that we have a great starting running back, and the need for a running back is not prominant, but you can't pass up on a guy like this if he falls.

Im ok with going RB in the first if Bijan is BPA (will he even last that long). Weapons are weapons and Ekeler isn't getting any younger.
