And then I didn't like that so many of his catches and yards was by design and then ran over college players. Not that it doesn't make sense to get ball in his hands, but that was college level and it was on a team that was really good at blocking. I don't see the production translation to NFL. His style looks like he won't ever play 17 games. So in my view he is overrated prospect that will end up on IR. I know it's harsh critic but it's drafting players about projection of production at next level. I think if I'm drafting a player top 15. I want a player that is plug and play for a decade. He could be that. But I'd rather have a BPA of OL or DL that early in draft.
          I WILL admit.
that is my one big concern for BB.
I'm more than confident in his blocking (when healthy)
I'm more than confident in his size and his physical development with Ben Herbert (lots of room to grow).

But he will HAVE to learn to use more finesse when getting tackled or he'll end up on IR more often than not.
and that's going to be a real challenge considering his reputation for being the most competitive guy on the field.
wts I feel comfortable he will take to coaching very well and it will be a none issue.. I see a very smart kid who knows what he can get-away with and one who's willing to adapt for a long sustainable, championship-caliber career.

Some might argue that he faced the highest caliber of players outside of the NFL because of the conference he played in but yeah, they were still college athletes, you're right...
I think Bowers is a solid TE prospect. I just don't see special. And again his style .........

"I feel like I'm yards after the catch and just being able to make people miss," Bowers said. "Just turn good plays into great plays."
He later added: "I like catching the ball in the flat and making things happen, That's fun to me."

If he can still do that at NFL I will be impressed, I just don't see it. My guess is he won't play 17 games.
Who has it better than us?

              Klatt on Bowers.

I expect a lot of disappointed and underwhelmed Charger fans if/when we draft Bowers at 5.
I get it, we all wish we get better value.
we'll undoubtedly get graded with "Cs" by pundits.
But it won't matter when we win a superbowl.
drafting Bowers is just as much about culture than it is about talent. It's appropriately ironic how full-circle we've come from expectations of a "run dominant" offense, to now understanding that it will be more balanced than ever.
Bowers represents that balance as a do-it-all weapon
we're replacing Allen with Bowers, not another WR.
Bowers will be Hortiz' first pick ever and will go down as one of the best ever. Future HOFer and becomes our second most valuable player after Herbert.
              trust the process.

Not bad at all but can I have a 2nd or a 3rd en plus.
                Wee wee.

                lol

Although I suspect Verse and B.Thomas will be off the board by #23. Which wouldn't matter, if you could take DeJean at that spot.

I really like how Klatt's opinions are not hyperbolic or caustic. Doesn't make him *right*, however.

Klatt is politely saying, "Duh! Bowers at #5!" Other wise evaluators are saying, "Duh! Alt at #5!" And others saying, "Duh! If MHJ is there, you take him!"

There is more than just *ONE* successful way for Hortiz to manage the pick at #5.

He makes an excellent point. note to self: only draft college players that played against pros!

how about Evan Neal or Leatherwood? I don't trust Alabama beef, I will say this tho, I liked Neal's tape a lot more than Leatherwood's and Latham has good tape too, but a lot of that good tape is against lesser competition...IDK, I just don't trust offensive linemen that come from that school...

Absolutely right on that bolded part, that's not really up for debate...as for the rest of what you are saying, IDK, I just don't understand the point of saying that someone isn't going to stay healthy, that could happen to any prospect that's coming out in this draft and because it's the NFL level it does happen to ton of them every year, the league attrition rate is almost 86% turnover every three years due to injury, so it's not like some bold prediction, it's like walking into one of those card reader sessions in the middle of the day and reeking of alcohol and then having the charlatan tell you that you'll be involved in a car accident in the near future...I also don't understand what you mean by 'his style'...is he particularly reckless with his body? I haven't noticed that on tape, what exactly do you mean by that? you are entitled to guess whatever you want and we are all guessing when we project these guys to the NFL, even guys like Hortiz are guessing, maybe we can call his 'informed guesses' but it's still a crap shoot for sure...
