Agree .... tight end is as top a priority as inside line play.

What do you do if you have an rb rated higher?

Is Greg Roman's offense working? Making the playoffs is more of a reflection of the defense balling this year.

Add a Malik Nabers and they are 11 - 4? Who knows.

Chargers have scored 20+ points several times this season and that's with horrible o-line play. Better o-line play they are 11-4? and that's with the current receiving core. Fix the IOL and the rest will fall in place, again IMHO.

Take the higher rated guy. Every time. BPA. We have enough holes that we can use talent at every position.

            QB Herb, Taylor * done
RB Gus, Kimani, Patterson * most assuredly we get someone from day three, not so sure 'bout day two
WR LaDee, QJ, Simi, Rice, Derius * yes I think Joe dips in here again, but not 'til day three
TE Will, Stone, Fisk * not a popular stump, and won't be surprised if JH waits 'til day three here
OT Rashawn, Joe, Jamaree * done
OG Zion * think you gotta get someone in FA here, and if someone is still on the board day two, maybe
OC Bradley, Jaimes * think you go shoppin' here in FA, but no need to take chances before that

NT Poona, Teair * pretty solid tandem, but not passin' on Grant cozo that
DT Otito, Okoye * ditto as not letting Walker by me even if I got two here already
DE Morgan, Egboigbe * don't see a pressing reason to make a change here
ED Khalil, Tuli, Bud * not takin' an RB ahead of an edge player given Joey is no longer
OLB Daiyan, Dye * lookin' pretty darn good here if Troy returns
ILB Denzel, Colson * gotta get a hedge here as health concerns abound w/these two
CB Fulton, Cam, Tarheeb, Deane, Shaun Wade * if I can get another twofer day three eye wouldn't hesitate to double down here
S Derwin, Molden, Alohi * not sure who, but a day three filler/flyer seems likely here

ST Dicker, Harris * not sure I'd get rid of Scott, but seems pretty unanimous, @least hereabouts
WR and RB look bad. Hope Simi isn't back and Patterson making the 53 can't happen. Need to draft a RB within first 3 rounds. Can't have that group for next year if we lose Dobbins.

And TE? You are really sacrificing the offense just to have your two DTs that we don't really need that bad if we keep both both Tart and Ford.

I've little doubt we go FA for OL

Considering that Ladd is having a year comparable to Nabers'... I'd say, no.
Throw in the fact that the Chargers looked horrible when they were missing RT Alt... and it only solidifies that notion.

I still want Nabers. Do a trade Hortiz. Two seconds should get er done.

Easton Stick could be throwing to Nabers at this point if we had taken Malik over Alt.

No way would we be 11-4 if we had Nabers instead of Alt. That's absolutely ridiculous. Alt has been fantastic.

I've been down on Mykel Williams this season, due to a lack of production, but I keep reading about how he has so much ability, enough to justify taking him with the first overall pick in the draft. What's funny is, Travon Walker was the first overall pick in 2022, in spite of the fact he had only 9.5 sacks in three seasons at Georgia. Walker is quietly doing well for the Jacksonville Jaguars, as he had 10 sacks last season and currently has 8.5 this year.

It makes me wonder if Williams will follow a similar path to what Walker has taken in the NFL. Williams certainly showed what he's capable of when he embarrassed Kelvin Banks earlier this season. I'm more intrigued with Williams now.

Whether they sign a FA OG or two (which I hope they do) or not doesn't mean they won't still take one in the 1st rnd. They are going to build the o-line and I believe they are going to do it through the draft, IMHO.
If they see a Rd1 value at IOL, I’ll believe in them and their talent rating abilities until I see they were wrong. I just don’t see such a player myself yet. I would just note that BAL has not taken an OL player in Rd1 since 2016, and that was an OT. They took 2 since 1997, which is 26 drafts, and both were OTs. Zero IOL Rd1 draft picks this century. If anyone still believes the Joe is Bal meme (I’m not a full convert to that theory), its just not true they lockstep took OL players in Rd1.

oops - correction, they took an OC Linderbaum with their second of 2 #1s at #25 in 2022. Make that 1 IOL player in R1 in 26 years. I guess we just don’t know.

If we had pip at RT and JPJ at guard the line would be worse but the IOL would be better and our WRs would have a true Alpha. It’s not ridiculous because obviously all things would change.

If Ladd can put up Nabors level numbers with Herbert Nabors would be gunning for Offensive Rookie of the year numbers. I love Ladd but don’t forget Nabors is a a consensus better athlete and overall WR than Ladd.

All that being said, I’m happy with Alt, Nabors could have been better but then we don’t have Ladd. All things considered the first 2 picks were good (3-4…mixed bag). They need a high RB this year. I was really hoping we could be in the area of a Jeanty drop but it’s looking less and less likely. TE in the first round is such a gamble. I would not be shocked by a lineman at all. All I know is we need a WR that can take the top off defenses and keep them honest, and a stud RB who can spell Dobbins. If we get those two I’ll be happy.
