That was my thought of moving back to 14 (stay ahead of Denver!) - get Herbert in the teens and not #6- and with this WR class - I actually want the pick this year. Two seconds could get you Cushenberry at 37 and WR with that other second rounder.

I just saw this tweet --- this is pretty big:
The one stat that would terrify me if I'm considering draft Justin Herbert or Jordan Love is this... % of uncatchably off-target throws targeting when an OPEN receiver 5-18 yards downfield in 2019: Tua 4.3% Hurts 5.0% Burrow 5.1% Love 14.1% Herbert 18.1%

Wow that's scary, hopefully the Chargers see this stat.

        Sigh....nobody ever believes Boltjolt
Was saying this exact thing during the college season. Not shocked at Love either, he isnt going to be a good NFL QB,.... He just makes bad decisions, Herbert i think can be fixed.

I have a hard time believing those stats. Who wrote that tweet?

I believe that was one of those mysteriously evaluated PFF stats. Fix his footwork (and he has reportedly made great strides on that with the QB guru coaching him) and that number changes dramatically.

Or you could just go with guy who already has it down.

Hurts to go from 5 to say 4.5% seems more likely than Herbert to go from 18 to say 6%. I am liking the idea of Hurts more and more.

He has to be the RIGHT QB. As like you said, Simmons, Okudah, probably an OT or two, maybe Brown - ARE ALL ranked as better prospects than Herbert.

thanks - my big thing with Herbert. is he really Telescos 6th (or better player) on his draft board. I get DJeremiah, Kiper , McShay, are not Telesco - but if Telesco is being honest and even if he has Herbert 12th - why is he giving the league 5 better players than Herbert. And I get the QBs are overdrafted thought - I really do. But that just seems like bad team building to me. Especially for a top 6 pick.

I do not want us to go QB higher than the 3rd round. Hurts in the 3rd is fine by me. No to Fromm and I would say a hard pass on Eason too. Hell we could even trade for Stidham and make Beachcombers day, week & year.........

The only 2 QBs in the league with more "down" than Herbert are Tua and Burrows. Tua's injury risk has been discussed ad nauseum and Burrows will be long gone. Every other QB in this draft has many more flaws that Herbert does.
