They are not ready to throw in the towel ...but they're reaching for it.
That’s a good point! I never thought much about that, but he was thrown out there way too early on and has been playing catch up ever since. His run blocking has actually improved a great deal, so maybe there is something there still to build on.

I just really like Staley’s overall approach, even with the roster cut of T-Billy, I can see that he has a much more focus on a complete team than the previous regime where there were 2 burners that made the team, but neither offered much of anything else, which probably contributed to bad special teams play.

We probably should be hearing about Waiver Claims within the hour.... East Coast lunch time.

        If the Lions want a receiver with speed and are interested in T Johnson, they'll approach Lynn and ask some questions;
it will not be Lynn suddenly getting on his cell phone and calling up the GM.
Teams encourage input from their coordinators and coaches about players they've worked with. A coordinator who has had success with a player who is suddenly available is going to lobby his HC and GM to get him, especially if it is a position of need. That's how Staley got Leonard Floyd to the Rams. He had Floyd as a player while at Chicago. Why do you think Tyrell Williams landed with the Lions? The Lions let their best WR, Kenny Golladay, go the Giants, so it could be a position of need. They could get Tyron Johnson for a song, it could pay great dividends.

          Per Pelissero
Chargers have claimed a DT and another DB
          Eric Banks from the Rams
Trey Marshall DB from the Broncos

Hmmm... no KR/PR or OT; another DB to replace a DB I would think

          Staley worked with both players
Banks with the Rams in 2020
Marshall with the Broncos in 2019

so Merrill to the PS and maybe Hall to the PS?

Trey Marshall was the S who replaced Derwin when he was injured in college? Sounds like he has not been so great in the pros from the little digging I did. But Hill knows him and he sounds like a special team signing.

Like, how am I a traitor? Your team are traitors.

I would think so - makes sense. Though both would need to clear waivers I think,.

End of the day - -though I wanted OT - -if you can improve a position of depth - its a good move. And Staley knowing both players - they make sense.

T-billy the only waiver claim away from the Chargers, only one claimed by the Jags, but I suppose he had other claims as well.

Jags had first claim and snatched him right quick. To me this indicates that Johnson had trade value. Letting him go and getting nothing in return is a failure on the part of our FO.
Our quarterback is a golden god.

                      Jags had #1 priority.

That does seem like the Chargers might have made a mistake. Even if they flip a 7th for a 6th
