Big picture.
We all put too, too much on Herbert.
Starting with the Head Coach.
("he's the best player out there,
so we put the game in his hands.")
We need our play makers to make plays.
Instead of standing around, thinking about how much arm talent our QB has.
And dammit, I hate dropped interceptions.
These missed opportunities are so freakin' costly.

You are so correct about dropped INTs - it just another drop like a WR not moving the chains

But yes, you are right, guys around Herbert need to make plays too
On the final drive by Minnesota, they were in a 2nd and 17 and Cook got the ball, Tillery whiffed on the tackle and Cook for 11 to make it 3rd and 6. If Tillery makes the tackle, its probably 3rd and 15. So small plays throughout the game do add up

Roberts took a kickoff two yards deep in the end zone, maybe a yard - he didn't make it to the 15 - next pass play Herbert is picked by Kendricks at the 30
Now maybe Herbert throws the same pass and its intercepted at the 40 - so who knows - but still - just take a knee Roberts and take the ball at the 25

The positive thing is this
they are 5-4, and 7th in the AFC as of today

Games against Pittsburgh, Denver and Cincinnati. So games against teams all fighting for playoffs. So you get these wins - you are in very good shape

It starts with the Steelers - figure out how to beat the Steelers. If thats open up the playbook, go for it on 4th down, fake punts, blitz on defense, whatever it takes - win the game. If I am Staley and I was planning on saving something for later, screw it, use it this week to win. I thikn they win this week playoffs are truly in play
They need to get ahead of some of these teams in the AFC with tiebreakers

Looking at results, I’d say this team goes as Mike Williams goes. He does well, we win. He doesn’t, we lose.

I'm guessing Herbie is taking an extra tick or two on the clock on checkdowns, AND processing Lombo's complex playbook...the big question is, is the Lombo Learning curve too steep? Or is it the normal curve that just takes time and will yield results eventually?
