Slater was clean on that play - its pretty clear to anyone who looks.

So did I hear this right? Slater officially gave up his first sack of his career but it was on a play where the RB chipped and Slater told them to stop helping after that because he felt the chip was what messed up his portection and allowed the sack, held up great after that

He is playing near Okung’s level when Okung was with the Chargers before the injures and health issues. Many years it was the Chargers who passed on quality OT early in the drafts. It feels great to be on the other side of that now. Even MW is playing like that 7th overall draft pick he was. It goes to show how important it is to not only acquire talented and hardworking players, but it’s also important to play to the strengths of these acquired players!!

Brandon Thorn provides a nice little video breakdown of Slater, Sewell, and Darrisaw so far.
For the Week 6 film room I put three first-round rookie offensive tackles under the microscope starting with Chargers LT Rashawn Slater against the Ravens, Vikings LT Christian Darrisaw (starts at 16:51) making his first career start against the Panthers, and Lions LT Penei Sewell (starts 32:59) against the Bengals in what

Thank you for sharing!! Great analysis without any bias too!! One of the many great qualities about Slater is how well he recovers, while staying true to solid fundamental form. He does not panic and he stills recovers very nicely. His technique is light years ahead of the other two OTs in this video. I liked both Sewell and Darrisaw in the draft, better than Slater actually. I am so glad I was wrong!! Although the other two look like they will be solid to good OTs, Slater is already good and will most likely just keep getting better along the way. He is such a perfectionist in many of the ways Herbert is, which have me excited as I have been in a long time!! Two top notch players playing at premium positions. I have to give TT his props here because it looks like he nailed this pick for certain, while also not sacrificing the future by moving up.

                Not bad for a rookie.

I was a big Slater fan, and he still has exceeded my expectations....I thought he would struggle out the gate, as any rookie should at that position...Its only natural, and I was fine with that. What a pleasant surprise...Asante too...a little more work needed there, but considering what we are asking of a second round rookie, he is doing just fine. Those two picks alone make 2021 a successful draft.

I don't know much about the competition but hearing guys like Cowherd heap praise on Slater it makes me wonder, does he have a chance to be All-pro as a rookie? Who was the All-pro LT last year?
