Pretty bad when the administrator says to fire him. LOL! Staley did not fix the defense. That is enough for me....

I really don't see any reason to keep him on. The season is pretty much done, they have to run the table, but Staley won't be the guy to do it. Just no improvement in the D since he's been here, part of it is personnel, but there isn't a want to win with this D now. (except for a few veterans and Tuli.

Most likely on a day to day level he tells Spanos Inc what they want to hear and not what they need to hear because it sure isn’t his playoff or division title record.

Heh, alarm clock set for Monday morning possible firing of Staley. Only, that won’t do anything about the play of the defense. What good will Moore do with Ansley on his own as DC? Maybe even worse than Staley. So why bother firing Staley now?

My hope is Ainsley is currently doing what Staley wants and that if he was given freedom it would improve this defense to mediocre. And mediocre is all that is needed. And we get a free look at Moore as a HC.

Agreed. Butler drafted Tomlinson and Brees back to back as his first two picks. Nailed 2 hall of famers.
And he found UFDA Gates. Marty move udfa Deilman from defense to offense and got a pro bowl LG.

The Spanos fired a 14-2 coach over policy. Not over winning or losing games. But policy that is clearly hypocritical. And that why there is Chargering. The football gods don't like the hypocritical nepotism. Dean Daddy didn't want to give him the team, wanted him to earn his own way. But Mom talked Dad into it. And this is what you get. A guy who likely could not even run a starbucks franchise successful, trying to compete in the NFL. And renting his team stadium. The other owners look down on him. And he knows it. He sits in the corner of the owner meetings with a dunce cap on. Please sell the team.

that has been obvious for a long time.... it wont happen at least till after the season.... I wont go into that further in this thread....

This defense has been horrible against good teams, and has bad or rookie QB's look much better then normal..... players out of positions...taking bad angles..... bad tackling..... stupid penalties.....

There were alot of injuries and slippage in this game.... was this another in a long list of games historically where Chargers brought the wrong shoes?

This game was closer than most expected, but it really is how we have played almost every game this year and recent years....

The sun looks like it affected the offense early..... with ball coming out of the sun.... once the 2nd half came around and sun angle changed... both teams passing games got better....

Herbert is a stud!.....single handidly kept us in this game.... but he cannot do everything....needs better players around him especially at OL
Gillman is a solid Safety, not a great one....but solid....we need a ball hawking FS to pair with him
Smart should get more catches.....he makes plays...
Parham maybe should be our 2nd or 3rd WR.....
James has to stay in the box....he is OUR BEST LBer.... he cannot cover deep so he should not play safety
KA is amazing.... yeah he had a few drops early, but that is rare and he plays big in the clutch...
Our rookies just dont have much impact except for Tuli....... TT obvious also needs to be replaced
Dicker is a keeper at Kicker..... GB missed 2 kicks that kept game closer...
Scott is a solid punter because he gets hang time and accuracy which helps the ST's....
ST's played well this game against another great ST's unit....

I think they fired Marty over three reasons:

#1. Daniel Synder was not paying most of Marty's salary by 06: Marty was becoming too expensive for them.

#2. His clashes with A.J. Smith are not things the Spanos like: they detest confrontations and value harmony and good tidings at Charger park

#3. Dean is a prick and they had that idiotic rule about nepotism that did not apply to the Spanos;
Dumbo thought that Marty's hiring of his brother was defiant to the Spanos way .... and maybe it was.
