It’s not question of ************ or aggressive to me. It’s dumb and smart. Wasn’t a smart decision by Staley. If they had made it there wouldn’t be a difference in how I felt about it or whether it made sense. It was an unnecessary gamble. Risk outweighed reward

I will put it this way.
To fire Staley now would be to condemn the Chargers to another decade or two of chargering.
Many are missing the big picture--transforming the Charger football culture.
They are so busy playing amateur Xs and Os guy and amateur personnel guy.HowellER KlareTE FarmerOG M'baDT TollisonC 4.3.26

You need to post more often Critty. Where've you been?Originally posted by Critty View PostHe did start Gilman over Adderley. Alohi got an extremely important Redzone Int to help get this win. Any credit for that adjustment?
Biggest BALLS of any HC Chargers ever and you want to turtle up and go back to Martyball. LOL.
Weak sauce with extra pansy juice poll.
Good job Charger fans.

you're ok with his play calling? I like the aggressive nature of his 4th down calls (when they work) but it seems he never weighs the risk/reward on some which to me is obvious and kind of odd as he seems to weigh analytics but his 4th down completion% isn't great and he should consider it. How ,any games have we lost because of his failed 4th down conversions?Originally posted by Velo View PostThe Chargers have more wins than losses, and are just one game out in the competition for not only the division lead but for the No. 1 seed. Those of you calling for coaches to be fired right now are way out of line. If the Chargers falter in the weeks ahead and fail to make the playoffs, then your belly aching will be justified. But right now the team is winning and you are whining. It defies belief.

If the analytics say it increased the chances of winning vs punting, did the risk really outweigh the reward?Originally posted by jamrock View Post

What is about being 3-2, one game out first in the division, one game out of the conference lead, running for 200+ yards today, a red zone INT by a new starter at safety, and the emergence of a really good OL makes you so unhappy?Originally posted by Air Coryell 84 View Post

The defense alone is what will hold this team back from the postseason, much less the bizarro calls by the HC.ESPN Screename: GoBolts02

We could win the SuperBowl this year with Staley and there will still be "fans" on this forum
biatching about Staley and Lombardi or (insert anything not perfectly executed by any Chargers here).
Must suck to live like that.

Since we fired 14-2 Marty Schottenheimer, how many head coaches have we had? I suggest a moratorium on firing Head coaches with a winning record. Stop the insanity!Go Rivers!

The Chargers could win the SB, but the "fans" you refer to will still complain that everything didn't go perfectly and the Chargers should've won by three more touchdowns.Originally posted by kgbpasha View PostWe could win the SuperBowl this year with Staley and there will still be "fans" on this forum

As Staley has referenced, it took a while for Fangio's concepts to take hold in Chicago.
We will adjust, and play slightly better D, more consistently.
Slayer will come back.
The run game will continue to trend up.
Herbert will lead.

he had been very tame this season, almost passive - then he went full berserk today.Originally posted by Topcat View Post
You're assuming Staley will actually start making logical, high-percentage game-day decisions...can a tiger change his stripes? Can Staley change? After last season and this season so far, not much evidence of this...
