If Williams thinks he’s worth $20 million a year, just franchise him. He’ll want the four year deal over getting tagged. So getting it done for around 16-17 million a year should be doable. If he can’t stay healthy next year, he’s still getting another year. If he sucks for two straight years, you release him and still probably come out ahead compared to franchising him.

Also, I went back and forth on Palmer this year, but at this point I’m cautiously optimistic that he might be able to step in and replace KA in a couple years.

I think you've said this already, but it can't be said enough. Yes. Yes. Yes. This is 'zactly why we need to resign Big Mike.

I watched some Natrone highlights. Really took me back in time. He had a great line and lot of holes and then he would really, really punish the second level guys. ANd he had a head of steam hitting those holes at 245 lbs. He was a very special player. Worth your time to watch if you are too young to have seen him play.

The one thing about Bulaga - he is due a roster bonus on the 3rd day of the new football calendar in the amount of $2.5m

So unless they push that back - he is likely to be released. He might even retire

Unless Keenan manages to have the two best seasons of his career in 2022 and 2023, he will not be playing 2024 under his current deal. There is a real chance he won’t be a Charger come opening day 2023.
Thanks for the clarification - and yes the Chargers really can't do anything until after the 2022 season. And based on his 2021 season, he can still play

So maybe get MW signed to a long term deal - backload it so that if you adjust KA down the road, Mike Williams can get paid more down the road

Continuity! Give Herbert a break (at wide receiver position). Took awhile…four years, MW now a 1,000+ yrd. receiver for the Chargers. Pay the man! Be like a Jerry Jones. 13 mil over the cap. Whatever it takes! Build! Now. Keep Williams! Work on defense. Get the best cornerback at #17. Go FA big time to stop the run. This time…do better at picking older FA talent. TT has had some bad luck at FA. Thank gawd for TT’s Slater draft pick. Oh…btw…Dump Murray. Get a conditional 7th rounder for the guy. Seriously. Cut your losses.

A money saving replacement for Williams is still gonna take a receiver probably 2 years to even approach MW’s past season stats. Keenan Allen lucky choices are rare. I’m gonna hate on TT if he takes the attitude that a suitable receiver will do in order to upgrade some other position. After seasons end next year, TT’s ass is gonna be on the line. He best remember that before he goes tweaking currently well manned player positions, no matter the cost.

He has a lot of guaranteed money left currently. But after this year, I believe there is only 5.4M of guaranteed money. And after 2023, that number is 2.7M.

Next year will be very telling with where he’s at and what they want to do.

How much of his salary could be converted to bonus money. If he keeps having 100+ receptions a year he will keep getting paid appropriately for that production or at least he should.
