I wonder how much of keeping Vizcaino is a Staley decision and how much of it is a Telesco decision and Staley goes along with it because he’s a team player.

Telesco may hesitate at admitting that he’s failed at finding a solution at the kicker position for 8 consecutive years now.

It’s not talked about as much because his ineptitude at putting together a half decent OL and DL over the same years has triumphed it.

It’s a Staley decision. Telesco has no ties to Viz and reason to keep Viz. Honestly your statement kind of borders on weird conspiracy theory territory. It would be like saying TT didn’t want to draft an OL in the first round because of what happened to Fluker.

Edit: case in point letting go of Bagley and keeping Viz instead. This was a Staley decision.

Hopkins is such an obvious signing at this point. He's had a solid career and is 31.

Good call out. The long snapper and Long have plenty of time to work together

And truly - if they think Vizzy has a future and he clears waivers, put him on the PS. But just like other positions, the team has a chance to be good - Hopkins might be better for them this year

So far, the Roberts and Hopkins signings make sense and should be upgrades from Hill and Vizcaino

I also think this means Telesco is probably trying to figure out how to get better on defense - especially against the run. He has used the bye week on two needs, but the big need remains. And my guess, it will be next Tuesday if the team makes a trade since practice is tomorrow for all teams. And I am good with that - deadlines spur actions

Sounds like Viz will be going to the PS when he clears waivers. Nobody is going to claim a kicker that has missed 5 XPs in 6 games.
