When Staley started putting Ramsey in the slot, it signaled that he's looking for matchups rather than CB's (or safeties) playing particular positions.

We are one player away from a very good defense
And I think it is a DB.
      Or an hybrid S/LB ?
      A. Booth and D. Lloyd will be there at 17th.

It was also scheme dependent on how he wanted to rotate the secondary.

Smart, versatile DBs are the name of the game here.

Derwin being able to play man coverage is the unicorn of the group. ASJ decent in man, too. That's 3 already. We could see a lot more man looks. Or 50/50. Staley likes 50/50 schemes from what I've seen, keeps em guessing.

There is even talk of Michael Davis being Slot capable.

Staley loves flexibility in a lot of places.
We do not play modern football.

I don't necessarily think he will get moved inside. Someone just said he hadn't played in the slot or didn't think he could, and that isn't true. He was an excellent slot guy. He is also excellent outside.

I wouldn't be surprised if they move around the CB around based more on the matchups. Davis has been used inside vs KC. Samuel was viewed more as a slot player by many when he was drafted, but was pretty good outside at times last year. So, if you have Jackson as a choice, all 3 of the top CB can be moved around to gain the best advantage in mismatches.

Jackson's one weakness is when he is against bigger, really fast WR, and that is the one kind of WR Davis can actually play reasonably well against. But if it is a choice between Jackson and Davis against a good route runner, then I would take Jackson every time. Every player has their strengths and weaknesses, it's just a matter of getting the right mix of guys so you get synergy.

                Just think of it Steve.

                Eagles...Devonta Smith/Jameson Williams.

                Falcons...Drake London/Kyle Pitts.

                We will defend 'em all.

We do not play modern football.

                  Per just completed Staley presser,
4/5ths of our offensive line is set in concrete.

                  Staley--Feiler--Linsley --Zion--XXX

                  Period. Stop.
We do not play modern football.

Glad we added a starter. Still need depth everywhere.

Here it is from the OL film study king himself, Brandon Thorn.
“Chargers fans, you got my favorite OL in the draft with Zion Johnson. Here’s my scouting report: https://t.co/n1PAdCfwK9”

I could still see adding a player like a RB2, or another ILB who could push/replace people. A S3 or 4 might get a lot of playing time too, especially if the guy had a lot of ST personality too.
