I do understand that Lombo has very little flow to his play calling. It is like he has all his plays in a hopper and they just randomly get called. His trick plays are often called at the worst time, there is no surprise element to his play calling, hell, I can predict what he is going to do most of the time. If I can do it you know the D coordinators that watch film are doing it at a much higher rate.

Much like the Seattle loss in the SB we should have just run the ball there, nothing fancy just pounded it, maybe run a PA off of the heavy package but not the crap we did there.
If Lombo is randomly pulling plays from a hopper, it must be a pretty small hopper...about 90% of Lombo's plays are:

    1. Run up the gut
    2. 5-yd pass to the left sideline
    3. 5-yd pass to the right sideline

    That is about all...

5 yards in the middle of the field ?
It worked with my Intellivision in the 80's.

Dropped passes on well designed plays at crucial junctures is not mentioned often enough.
We do not play modern football.

Not if Keenan and MW is out there. Nothing wrong with the call.
You got a better explanation than that or just throwing out some random unimaginative thought?

You left out poorly timed trick play that loses 8 yards and momentum.

Holy shit. Bolt Beat has a damning article on Lombardi

Chargers fans have been outraged with Joe Lombardi since last season and Fred Warner just justified all of those frustrations.

“It is one thing for frustrated fans to blame the offensive coordinator for the play-calling, it is another thing for players on the other defense to expose Lombardi's offense. That is exactly what 49ers linebacker Fred Warner did after Sunday night, explaining how the 49ers defense was able to essentially stay in the same exact defense the entire second half.”

Yes injuries have decimated this offense, but lombardi’s game plans week 1 and 2 were absolute dogshit when the team was mostly healthy his predictable crap was exposed even when the chargers had all their guys, dude is legacy trash…

                        Fred knows...
                        1. SFs athletic LBs could take away screens, jets.
                        2. MW/KA would have been a poor matchup for SF.
                        3. Everett has a groin.

We shall see how the NFLs dazzling, creative offenses do in the stretch run, starting with BUF in 6 feet of snow.
We do not play modern football.

That's the play were he threw it to Palmer near the endzone, who had a step on the cb, no?

The safety broke hard on it and Herbert had to avoid him - so incomplete.

Herbert needed to hold on to the football a bit longer to cause the safety to make a choice: Palmer or the guy with a step, running down the middle?

Two yards of separation you get in college football
