I think it's more like the fact that most new HC's get to clean house and hire their own assistants...UNLESS you're someone like Lynn who was told he had to have Whis as OC...but no doubt about it--Stitch looks to be light years ahead of Lombo...

Both OC and DC should be on the hot seat based on poor performance. If Staley survives, he will be pressured to make changes. If not, it will be a complete coaching reload.

If Staley survives it will be because the team rallied and finished strong. I doubt he gets a mandate to change the coaches in that case. If we bumble and stumble down the stretch he could get let go - unless they give him a mulligan due to injuries.

The defense is a lot better this year.
I think ATL would have gone for 300 rushing yards against last year D.
And we would have lost that game.

We're ranked 29th in points allowed and 21st in yards allowed, 31st in rushing yards allowed which is worse than last year. The stats say nothing has changed since last year, it's almost identical in comparison defensively which is very worrisome. There's no real excuse that we shouldn't have improved from the paltry performance of last year. That either speaks volumes about Staley not being able to even manage his own side of the ball, his specialty and/or that he has thrust incompetent coaches into defensive position roles that he has delegated the management of the defense to, and is unable to see their lackluster performance. Either way, it's not a good look, especially as the guy in Denver that took over as DC, Ejiro Evero, is running laps around Staley while running the same scheme. Sad to say, but even under Gus Bradley as DC with arguably worse talent, we were top 10 for several years in important categories.

Whiz helped get them to two playoffs in his 3 years here.

Not certain what exactly he did to earn a bad rep.

Yeah it’s a huge disappointment. Defense got all the off season attention and was supposed to be a real strength of the team.

but they lost Bosa, Nwosu, White and Jones from last year.....that is a lot of quality football players for a defense to lose, robe:

Whiz was fired at midseason in 2019 when the Bolts were 4-5. Didn't do much good--Chargers finished with record of 5-11...
