Yeah, Qualcomm fell into disrepair and the Chargers needed a new or upgraded stadium. But it was preferable to the soccer stadium they are currently playing in. And maybe preferable to playing in Kroenke world as well if the visiting fans outnumber the charger fans or they play in a half filled venue

It's better than a soccer pitch. And once they are filling Stan's stadium half way up for 8 Sundays... they'll still be playing on a shitty artificial turf! A domed stadium with artificial turf... in Southern California! That sux! 25,000 fans in a 70,000 seat tin can on a glorious Sunday afternoon... half of them visiting fans... LOL! That sux!

I hear that $650 million relocation fee starts being paid this year... LOL!

Agree about the turf. That's BS being in So.Cal.

Summary to the Roggin video... NFL approved Rams move, thinking that there would be expansion for the 2nd team, and the Chargers and Raiders would get new stadiums. Kroenke is on the hook for the entire stadium project, but projected profit at the cost of the project at under $2B. The spawn decide to pair up on the Carson project, causing the NFL to create the deal for the spawn 1 or spawn 2 to have the option to take the 2nd spot in LA... and we know what happened then.

To pay for the stadium Kroenke is relying on both team selling PSLs ... but there is no written agreement on how to do this. Charger spawn realizes that they don't have a fan base to sell PSLs at the price level that the Rams can, but have no obligation to do so, so they can undercut what ever the Rams want... while financing the relocation fee...which they are allowed to do by league rules. Kroenke probably can't do shit about the situation, but will probably posture this publicly as the Chargers reneging on the deal... but there is no such deal. Ultimately the Chargers took the path of least resistance, and Kroenke has to deal with the cost overruns (estimated $5B in total), and the League (the other owners) created the situation because they were looking for 6 billion in expansion fees in LA and maybe Toronto/London.

            Feel free to correct details.

Thanks for the Fred Rogin clip, Bolt-O.

Where Fred Rogin was wrong... the "asset" has not doubled in valuation... nor will it, without revenue making abilities. From 2017 to 2018, the value of the Chargers went up zero dollars.

Where did the LA corporate money tree go...? Those luxury boxes were supposed to be filled with CEO's, millionaires, and movie stars... the optics of a half filled stadium will be bad.

So Kroenke is unhappy that the stadium he needed to build for under $2 billion to be profitable has blown up to over $5 billion because he is gold plating it and massively expanding the scope? He had no deal for what the Chargers could charge for the PSLs and he is unhappy they are doing what they can in a market that hasn't embraced them? Sounds like old Stan didn't do his homework and impulsively agreed to things without thinking them through. Sorry Stan, you knew the Spanos family and their limited wallet and have nobody to blame but yourself.

Small correction... the NFL knew that the Chargers and Raiders were not going to get new stadiums built... they just didn't give a rat's ass. And before we go bashing San Diego or Oakland taxpayers... LA wasn't going to build a millionaire's stadium either with public funds. That's why they brought in a multi-millionaire to build his own stadium (amusement park).

The NFL has lost touch with it's fanbase... it's sad and funny all at the same time. It's bath time!

Which is a money grab. I don't give 2 fucks about London or Mexico as far as a NFL franchise goes. And what Free agent will sign to play in London and want to make 15 hour flights every couple weeks. Even draft picks won't stay there when their contract is up.

A's haven't got one yet either. I hope they move to Las Vegas. We'll take both of Oakland's teams lol.

The Warriors will be playing in SF when their arena is done

I'm a big A's fan and they are trying to get something done and a site has been identified and I believe the process is underway. That said we're talking about Oakland and Alameda County here so this could go bad at any time.

I can can understand wanting the A's they win but the Raiders?
