Herbert is ridiculous, in a good way.

This new vid by Brett Kollmann analyzes Herbert, the Chargers' passing game, Joe Lombardi's play calling, the O line, and the WRs.

He says criticism of Lombardi is unfounded. Lombardi is doing a good job with the players he has, and the limitations they present.

There is a lack of speed on the Chargers' WR corps. Guyton, the only speedy wideout, can't run block, so whenever he's on the field the defense is tipped off it's a pass play. Explains a lot.

The O line, while better than it was two seasons ago, still is not complete, not able to protect Herb long enough for a deep passing game consistently.

Telesco/Staley will make drafting speed at WR a priority next April.

It's a really good and informative video, and he thinks Herbert has few if any equals in the NFL.

In being the one the top NFL players, I think we will finally get some penalty calls going our way when guys get close to him, like Brady always seemed to get and Rivers never did.
we certainly didn't get it in KC. There could have been a couple of roughing calls made and Brady would have undoubtedly got them.

Thanks Velo. I have watched this man before. He is pretty good for a layperson and shares a lot of things to think about. It also sheds light on what goes into play calling and play design for us fans who only see the surface and assume the obvious. I am sure it will not satisfy those who have already made up their minds, but I appreciate learning.

Given that he plays for the chargers Rivers 2.0 makes more sense…

QFT, they are .500 in 2.5 seasons with one of the top 3-4 QBs in the NFL…

the injuries have been on an epic scale this year, this team with half the injuries it currently has, which would still be a crap ton, would probably be 7-2 right now…

Been a charger fan for almost 45 years, I’ve never seen injury situation remotely close to this, so many key guys! NEVER seen this shit! This is like mahomes, carr, and fucking wilson got together in the off season had a seance and sold their fucking souls to the devil type shit…this is some off the charts, next level, crazy unprecedented shit, the football gods are demanding that the Spanos family sell the fucking team type shit!

Tua and Hurts have much better W-L records than Herbert and he’s a bit better than Burrow but Burrow has a Super Bowl appearance. All from the same draft class.
