Honestly, though, an extreme overreaction from the board. This kid has the physical tools, didn't have the coaching or the weapons that Tua and Burrows had. Sit him this year, let him learn, and then we'll see what we have.

Drafting a 6'6 240lb QB that was Pac12 Champ and Rose Bowl MVP doesn't look bad at all on paper.
Hopefully it looks even better on gameday.

I find it hard to believe Herbert will put up rookie year numbers this year. Only because the Chargers will hopefully try and get an actual running game going and not be pass happy out of necessity like last season. As of yet, former QB coach now OC Lombardi is a total unknown. Anyone know his philosophy about run vs. passing? We already know Daboll sets up the run with pass pass pass. That might happen because this team still hasn't a cowbell workhorse. Ekeler is being over utilized in that role when he could be a fantastic X factor with a bruising type RB to compliment his dynamic abilities. In other words, the Chargers desperately need a cowbell RB. The Chargers stable of later round drafted RB's don't do it for me. TT stuck us with those picks. Need to go RB in FA. Any out there? No 30 yr. old mentors plz.

Im giving the rookie receivers slack without the preseason to learn routes and timing. Give em time to develop.
I was giving TT the benefit of the doubt on Herbert...so unexpected the absolute beast that he turned into game 1 of his season. Bravo TT! Lets hope his wr picks come to half the benefit as Herbert.

Williams and especially Allen are the bread and butter precision route runners who get separation in tight coverage. The other 3 WR's had some good hookups with Herbert, but those were mostly downfield sprint catches with broken coverage. It's up to the the WR's coach and others to make them anything other than that. With other needs, TT shouldn't even consider a WR, especially later round ones.
