I agree. Just getting Linsley and and one plug and play vet who is a legit starter - that would be a decent off season. Then Get your LT in the draft and you would have something.

I hear he has been lazy after getting his big deal with the Raiders.

This is where I am at - but I would probably add drafting an OG by R4 as well and you might have four new starters on the OL. But yes, adding Cory Linsley and an upgrade at OG would be solid work in Free agency. Nick Martin isn't Linsley but he might be a good fall back option as well. The bar is so low for the Chargers OL that improvements should not be difficult but they would be noticeable. The OG is going to be really deep with players - should be able to get a plug and play guy easily.

He has missed a lot of games with i think a calf injury and it seemed Gruden was frustrated with him and Abrams always missing time but Abrams of course isnt making near what Brown is.

I wouldnt be interested in Trent Brown unless they are paying the majority of his salary next season.

Brown has been hurt a lot the first couple years. Raiders do not have a lot of dead cap left on the deal, like $250k. I doubt anybody trades for him unless Brown agrees to a lower contract as nobody is giving him $13m or whatever his "current contract" says.

Some of it is overrating Brown too.

Brown is a guy who was pretty good at making players take the long way around him, and he is a $20 dollar cab ride to get around. But for a player with speed, any QB that likes to hold the ball is in trouble with Brown.

Brown got a huge deal after playing with Brady, who gets rid of the ball incredibly fast, so he didn't have to hold up very long. You couldn't get around Brown in time to get to Brady, so he looked like a pretty good LT that year. Then he plays for the Raiders, and Carr likes to hold the ball some, so suddenly Brown doesn't look so wonderful, even at RT.

Wonder if the same holds true for Thuney also, on the inside...

I would be good with Thuney but I still think its about two players on the OL and not just one. Granted, they could go with Thuney and a cheaper option at Center like Blythe instead of say Linsley and (pick your OG option).

There are going to be players who take a one year deal so they don't get sucked into a team friendly deal for multiple years - hoping the cap goes up. Works for the player - they can prove themselves. Works for the team as they are getting a motivated player.

Just have to see who is out there come March 15

"Perfect fit" is power and feet on the inside,
and length and lateral mobility on the outside.

Do you think the new coaching staff who are familiar with some free agent O-line has any impact on who Chargers may attempt to sign?, like a Villanueva-OT or a Jackson-OG
