Another thing about that Rapoport clip - its almost like the "geniuses" in the Chargers Front Office think they can get one over on the fans by having the 'respected Ian Rapoport' give a vote of confidence to Staley and basically the defense and only talking about the points the offense left on the field (which they did)

Do they really think the fans are that stupid and do not pay attention?

This ownership group is literally the dumbest in the NFL. I think Mark Davis with the Raiders has more football/business acumen than Deano Spanii.

Do the Spanos actually pay attention to the rest of the NFL media, and former coaches aside from Rapoport? The entire NFL media world thinks Staley is in over his head and should be fired, think Herbert is being wasted, and question the direction of the franchise.

This is all about 'cover'. The Spanos don't want to fire Staley cause that would cost them $$$'s. They are looking for justification (any justification) to keep him on . . . . . . . pretty sad really . . . . . . .

I predict that Staley won't make it to the end of the season, not because the Spanii fire him, but because he's going to collapse under the weight of ever increasing weekly scrutiny, which will be beyond intense.

Rex hates the Chargers/Staley because Anthony Lynn flamed out here. Anthony was his disciple and only branch on his coaching tree. Anthony lost his job as OC in Detroit and I think now he is RB coach for SF?

Look over here, and don't look at the 291.6 passing yards per game your defense is allowing. By far the worst in the league, and you have played some QB-deprived teams. Imagine if all of those teams would have had good QBs. Yikes.

This is the 1st year of another new offense, and the third year for his defense. Nobody is buying the B.S.

At this point, I am not even sure a Patriots style 45-zip blowout on Sunday Night Football would have Staley lose his job. Probably will blame the offense anyway as the defense did its job
