From watching Staley, his world has been rocked. Pretty clear to me he knows he is failing. So now we will see how he handles this -- will he be great and turn this around or will he collapse under the pressure? I like the guy, so in a way I feel bad for him. He obviously cares and wants to do a good job. But I don't believe in him any more, although I have really tried. And I wonder if he really still believes in himself, all the bravado aside. The numbers are devastating and he cannot run from them. His defense is awful, in record proportions and it is all him, all the way. Has to be crushing to him.

I don't need innovation. That is for the assistant coaches. I want a HEAD coach...

I don’t trust first timers to succeed with us anymore. Especially someone who has only been OC for two years.

When I think of innovation, I think of being forward thinking. Campbell, for example, is innovative in that way given his adherence to analytics as well and that he isn’t afraid to go for it on 4th down either. Same thing with Doug Pederson who won a SB that way.

Good clarification on the innovation. I was referring to play calling and schematics.

Innovation on play calling and scheme is good too, especially the ability to adapt to the current personnel.

I don't know if Boss Ross or Marty was very innovative but they won games

I don't know if Tomlin or John Harbaugh are innovative - but they win games

Hire the right HEAD coach who hires the right staff

That would be 1 Jim Harbaugh or 1A BB!

I agree about Harbaugh. He seems like a no-brainer

Even Hoodie with a good solid GM - no brainer

I’ll counter with Shanahan, McVay, Reid, etc.

                        Very good names and touche

I know there are candidates out there who probably will be successful - I just don't want to waste years of Herbert hoping when there might be somebody who has done it already to varying degrees of success

Ideally we get a great offensive minded HC so that Herbert wouldn’t have to deal with a constant rotation at OC again. But that ain’t happening if we get a new HC that’s a retread.
